HKS SSQV BOV ?
Tuesday, March 27, 2007 7:27 AM
I got one with my setup. what do you think of them?

but I had a few questions about vac lines too...

not too great with knowing my way around the engine ( 2.2ohv ) so bear with me...

Compressor to controller (tee'd to wastegate) to ...where? also where should my boost gauge tee to?

my turbo is internally wastegated, so if I run the vac line from the compressor to the bov instead of the internal would it work that way?

forgive me for sounding like a noob...

i am running the HKS ssqv and i LOVE IT.....crazy loud at 15 psi.

ok well depending on whether or not your running a dual port actuator one of the lines make release into atmosphere. one should come from your compressor housing to the controller, then controler to one side of wastegate. then if you do have a dual port actuator for a wastegate setup one can "but not always" be open to atmosphere.

your blow off valve should never be hooked to your compressor housing!!! this could defeat its purpose, it NEEDS to be hooked up to a vacume source "idealy on your intake manifold".

as for your boost guage, again this MUST be connected your best vacume source "idealy after the throttle body where you get legit readings before intake runners", just make sure that its in the intake manifold rathe than the throttle body or some other area due to some ports in the throttle body desined to restrict the amount of air able to pass through them. good luck man, hope this helped.......

HKS discontinued the SSQV, so make sure if you buy one its authentic. I don't condone or support ebay knockoffs. The only BOV I have liked more then the SSQV is the Tial 50mm BOV. It gets the point across that you mean business.

Just going by what a local friend of mine (who is an authorized HKS dealer) told me not too long ago. I checked HKS's website and I guess their new one out is the SQV?

Yes sir, like you said people were making fake ones so HKS redesigned them.. Bad thing is, that their more expensive I was gonna get one from my boys performance shop until I seen the price.. So they had a couple of the regular ones still in stock so I took one of those

Truthfully, yes HKS is expensive as hell. But their products are always of outstanding quality.
