hey guys um kinda stuck on my install. didnt wanna go any farther til i could make sure i could get another alternator on my cavy. has anyone changed the alternator out from a cobalt or ion??? cuz its obvious that when i use the stock alternator with the s/c it will spin backwards. thus could cause the alternator to overheat. my guy told me there is no way he could rebuild the stock to make it cool the right way. he even told me that the alternator from the cobalts wouldnt run right because of the differences in the computers from my cavy and that of the cobalt. but will the reflash of the ecu correct the problem of makin the cobalt alternator run when it should?????? any help would be appreciated. on a side note i am in need of the upper radiator hose real bad. its on back order for 6 months now.

i kept the cavy one and drove it in very hot weather with zero issues
ive got the cobalt ss/sc alt in mine , and i did when i did a friends cav
make sure its for the 2.0 s/c motor
the problem is the alt spins backwards , so the stock 2.2 alt wont cool properly in high heat sutuations , because fans dont work when spining backwards , in most cases youll be ok
and you can always change it later
it wont effect the way it runs , the nice thing about the 2.0 sc alt its higher rated amp output , but you also need the fuseable link wire that goes from the alt to the starter , its twice the size of the cav wire
I have the stock 2.2 Eco alt still...didn't swap it out at the time of install.
No problems with mine either....
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
im using my stock cav one two but only been s/c for about a week
ok thats making me feel better lol
i just wanted to correct a possible problem since it was already off but sounds like i might just save some money and put the stock back on since there isnt a prob with it. thanks guys!
