Anyway, i have a hahn stage 2 cavy. I was wondering what some of oyu guys were going for wieght reduction? besides the spare tire. is there anything we can do that makes any difference at all? or just dont bother....
Cut out the spare tire part and rivet in a carbon fiber flat piece. Should save you some weight. Take out the AC completely. Run a carbon fiber hood with a carbon fiber trunk or fiberglass since with these cheap aftermarket companies all they do is put a layer of carbon fiber ontop of fiberglass.
Well you've got plenty of options. You can remove your spare tire and just leave it at home. Carbon fiber body panels. Pull al the carpet out of your interior, remove the sound deadening material below and then you can either leave the carpet out or put it right back in if you so choose. I will warn you that a gutted car will be loud and quite annoying. What you need to figure is for every 100 pounds you drop, you gain up to a tenth of a second ET. That's all theory though.

thanks guys, is there anyone on here that has done this?
there are a lot of people that have done some serious weight reduction. ragin z had a good thread showing some of the stuff he did. So far the only thing i've done is remove sound deading under the carpet. Some other stuff I want to do is remove the ac and put a thin sheet of aluminum over the spare after i cut out the tub, I already made my cover peice, so I'm sure I'll be doing that soon. Some other ideas that are relatively cheap is to swap out the front latch assembly for pins, or go all out and get rid of the hinges too and rock 4 pins. hmm....what else? Ragin z started cutting out a lot of the support webbing in areas, but I wouldn't really reccomend that. Theres tons of stuff you can do if you want to spend some money...seats, body panels, wheels, plexiglass windows. It just depend on how crazy you want to get with it. Also remember that it does count where the weight is taken off of. If you take too much weight off the front end, you may run into traction problems, and if you auto x you want a even distribution.
