Is it even possible to run these injectors without HPT? I mean the car runs, but really rough idle.

Your factory tune definitely will not like them, especially not at the fuel pressure your car normally runs.

I am running a RRFPR so can I turn down idle pressure (currently set to around 45) get the idle good and then still set my WOT pressure where I want it? Or do I just need to go big w/HPT. I guess I'm trying to cheap out for a while.

Rising Rate FPR = FMU
Adjustable FPR = allows you to set your idle FPR where you want it.

Get rid of the FMU and go with HPT.

Better a delay than a disaster.
