i was just wondering if it is normal for the turbo to leak oil while it is sitting. after about 2 weeks of sitting on my desk it started leaking, and more so recently. it is a rebuilt Garrett t3/t04b. i was told by guys on homeadeturbo.com that it is normal due to the fact, its not sitting like it would in the car. it seems to be coming out of the oil drain line and 2 bolts, 1 directly next to the feed line, and 1 next to the drain line. anyone?
If it's leaking on the outside, no that's not right. Are these the same guys that told you a knock-off wastegate was ok?

im not sure. my boyfriend is the one that goes on homeadeturbo. but no i don't believe it was the same people.
There is oil inside of the turbos from the factory to ensure that they don't rust.
If it sits long enough, the oil will start to drip slowly out.

that is what i was told, but it worried me that it wasn't sealed properly.
Jess, take a picture of it and let us see what /where exactly the oil is coming from...

these are the 2 spots it is leaking from (it has been sitting facing down on this side)
Yea looks like is the oil comming out of the oil return. No big deal just sit the turbo where the oil in/out ports are not facing down where gravity can pull the oil out.
Where that's leaking and how it's sitting off the car it should be ok. If it was connected and leaking then you'd have a possible problem.
