i know that most of the people on the org say that the t3 .48/.49 turbos are too small for our cars but i know htere is some one out there using them, if you have one of these on ur car post and let me know how you like it. im lookin for a turbo that spools really quick at least to around 12 or 13 psi, thanks guys let me know how you like it and if not how you dont like it. thanks
also has anyone used the new ngk wideband monitor? just wondeirng thanks!
Well your going to get varied opinions, mostly based on engine type, is this for your eco? If so ill let the eco guys speek up, since its DOHC, your going to be able to flow a lot better then my 2200, but on my engine with the T3 super 60 it spools up damn quick, turbo lag is non existant. Only problem is at my altitude i run out of efficiency at around 18-20psi. Id say best advice is get the compressor map off the manufacturers website and see if its going to be efficient at your altitude. You can do a nice compare and contrast this way with different turbos and see for yourself how effective they'll be a certain boost levels.
yeah but a t3 super 60's ar ratios air flow higher rated than this t3 with is .48/.49 ar's? i just need something that will not run out of breath until i hit like 15 psi or so. i was just wondering cuz i always see these turbos for pretty cheap and authentic garret ones with fresh rebuilds. i would like a super 60 but im on a tighter budget and just want something that spools up quick and is efficient till at least 14 15 psi dont really need anything more than that since ima be using an fmu
neverming saw a good super 60 on blaast performance for cheap. also anyone using the new ngk wideband yet i read that it was better than the aem one but would rather see if any jbody guys were using it
I have the AEM, not a huge fan, I have heard better things about the NGK sensor.
as for the turbo size... (this is all just IMHO) something with no turbo lag is a pain in the ass... if you don't like turbo lag get a supercharger... with such a small turbo you can put down some really good times, have lots of fun at the track, but at what loss?? well first off... driving on cruise at 80mph just touch your throttle and you are in boost, it makes it impossible to drive out of boost, and a turbocharger that spins so early in the RPM only dies off up top because it is out of effieceny and OVERSPINS. So yes it will make decent power, but boosting almost all the time, and sacrificing some/all reliablity??? is it worth it, personally I want the turbo charger on my setup to be a little larger to ensure the most life out of it, and I don't want it boosting under 3000-3400rpm.
But that is just my opinion, keep in mind if you get a 0.48 turbine housing, you can change the housing to 0.63 anytime you wish.
HP Tuners | Garrett T3/T04B | 2.5" Charge Pipes | 2.5" Downpipe | 650 Injectors | HO Manifold | Addco front/rear | Motor Mounts | HKS SSQV | Spec stage 3 | AEM UEGO Wideband | Team Green LSD | FMIC | 2.3 cams | 2.3 oil pump swap | 280WHP | Now ECOTECED
.48 .49 is do able... but not good even at it's best (1.4 PR) you would have to lower the redline to 5000, any more than that the turbo will over spin.
t3 super 60 is awesome, you would get great efficency at 12-16 psi for a 2165cc engine. it fits the bill.
.48 .49 twin turbo for an ld9(I did my maths) it would be best for 14psi all the way up to max of 6000rpm engine speed. full spool at 2650rpm all the way through.

thanks guys ge would it be as easy as swapping the compressor and turbine housing? cuz i was given one of
THESE ching chong turbos for free but read that they sucked could i just get a rebuilt garret and swap the turbine and compressor housings? would that work the turbo i have is a .50 and .53 ar i think its a 57 trim, i didnt think it was as easy as that but if i could do that it would be awesome. let me know if i could do this that would be cool. could i just swap the housings into lets say one of
THESE turbos? thats kinda wat i was looking at, let me know man thanks for the help!
can anyone answer my question above? are they just interchangable housings? if so i can just do that since i have an extra ching chong turbo
I have one of these and they work too.
Here I did up the chart to show you were this turbo falls. In a 2165cc (8valve VE
92% avg) i'm assuming). it spools up really fast and goes right through The efficiency zone at about 12psi. It's a good all round setup..

you can interchange housings... but if the wheel size don't match... it's no good. like 48mm inducer 54mm exducer or 40mm inducer and 62mm exducer, or you can just take a compressor housing and use it's wheel.(as long as the wheel is balanced. I don't know if you can trust this one's wheels though (first link).
