Well i broke down and ordered the 10:1 comp wiseco pistons, the machine shop hasnt bored the cylinders yet so he is going to hold off till the new pistons come in.
I figure i want the most out of it NOW and i dunno how long until i can afford to go turbo, so this way even if i only get say 10psi, i will still have in the upward range of 200WHP. Probably alot more considering everything going into this build, but i dont want to set my goals too high and be let down.
I also ordered the Phantomgrip Xtreme for the Cobalt 2.2 (same trans, f23... but they dont list it for the cavy, only the gold and i dont think that one will fit the f23)

Also, because im going with the 10:1 i think the future has changed from turbo, to the GMPP supercharger, Stock pulley size should give good boost numbers with the high rpms, but thats a lil ways down the road, and only if i cant get good boost num with the vortech

don't be afraid to turbo in the future either.. no where does it say that high compression and turbo is not good, hell its better. more power, faster spool times and what not.. it just takes more tuning to make it safe..
the only reason why people do low compression and boost is because its easier to tune..
also keep in mind you can change your Dynamic CR (running CR) by using different cams
Im really anxious to see just how fast this thing is gunna be when its all said and done (with the vortech unit)

Honestly i dont know what ill do, i know that the stage 3 cams work well with a turbo, but im unsure as to how they will work with a fixed displacement supercharger..... I would honestly like to just put the other supercharger on due to cost and reliability and be done with the engine... But if im not gunna get very good num. then i will go turbo.
Again this is only if the vortech doesnt impress me

if running 10:1 compression was a good thing then you would see a lot more high end turbo kits doing this... why do you think lingenfelter lowered our z06's compression down to 8.5 or 9:1 (for get what the finally went with).... considering how good of a tune they can do they still chose to go to a a lot lower then the 11:1 i was it... there is more to it then just a tune making you go lower in compression
The First Twin Charged jbody
blue car (R.I.P) - 240whp @7psi..
silver car - 305whp 315lbs.tq @15psi (91 Octane) or 420whp & 425lbs.TQ @20psi (94 octane+Alcohol Injection)
All dynos run on a Mustang dyno
your absolutely right but its the only thing that people bitch about..
fuel issues are another problem..

hes right guys. plus u can run more boost on pump fuel with a lower comp

how well will it run if it was runnign 10-15psi on 11:1 with just 91 octane? now if u were going to run strictly 110 through it..
im not arguing. just saying. dropping it is more "street friendly"

Yea if i knew when i would have the money to go turbo and boost 20+ psi i woulda kept the 8.9:1, but big boost isnt in the direct future, so 10:1 it is. The car should still haul some serious ass with the vortech blower, pumping through the rest of the parts in the build
