ok so heres the story, i have the 2.4 with the gm charger, and ive had methanol injection for the last couple of months
i dont have a TB spacer so the injection is before the TB in the intake
i had read about problems with the TPS being messed up from the methanol but nothing HAD happened
well about a week ago i was driving and all of the sudden the car just started revving up to 2000 and then dropping back to idle over and over
so i limped it home, guessing that the TPS sensor was damaged, go get a new one from napa, and replace it, thinking that the car would be fine
well ever since i replaced the TPS the car has seem to set its idle to between 2-3200 rpms
i checked all the vaccuum lines and they all seem to be fine, i MAY need to make a new gasket between the TB and the charger but im not sure
so can anyone please help me out, i have tried everything, including disconnecting my battery and letting the computer relearn itself
thanks guys and girls
i will check that today, thank you!
anyone else?
I had a similiar thing happen, my throttle cable got stuck under my air intake......though I doubt that's your problem, it sure was funny when we discovered that's what mine was. Luckily it only took us a couple minutes and "wtf" looks back and forth.
This was right after my alky install, which I also had injecting before the TB with the 90' injector. I sprayed quite a bit last season and never had any real TB troubles. A few times I had it rev it, rev down, as if some had puddled, but it all went away within minutes.
haha yeah i bet joe
the wierd thing about mine is it will start idling around 2000 then slowly climb to about 3200
so i just dont know
update
i cleaned out the IAC and let it run, now the damn idle is between 3000 and 4000
getting pretty damn irritating
i'm pretty sure that when you replace the tps, you're supposed to completely collapse the plunger on it. push it in all the way, and then re-install it. this may be the source of your high idle. or, you may have an intake leak, which is what my 2.3 swap was doing for a little while.

.. ^ no,
BUT you are suposed to disconect the bat. and then let it run through relearn.
hook it up to a scaner and see what Volts it puting out, dont just start throwing parts at a problem.

ok people so heres the scoop
i drove it today so i could go get it scanned, and i did
came up with two codes, system is running too lean, and RPM is higher than expected
so i called up a GM tech that i know and he says its the IAC, so i ordered a new one for 80 bucks
hopefully this should solve the problem, and thank you all for your help, i appreciate it
btw when you cleaned your iac i hope you didn't use any type of chemical cleaner, because that will definetly mess it up.
no i didnt, i used carb cleaner, but it may have gotten messed up by the methanol, who knows but a new one comes tomorrow so ill update then
