Thought I would share some photos of the last couple of weeks with everyone:
It started out looking like this:
Removed the Snout:
Removing teh snap ring at the end of the snout:
Snout Drive assembly removed:
Where the inner bearing rides:
This is the new outer bearing (6204):
New rotor pack as replacing these bearing is not a homebody job:
Here are what the needle bearings on the inside of the housing look like, never could figure out a way to remove them:
This is the coupler, min has baout 28K, no signs of wear:
New ZZ pulley (3.1"):
All back together again:
Much Thanks to Todd MIller for the use of the hydraulic press, thinking about a how-to, but didn't take many pics, but I do have all the part number now for everything!!!
Thats pretty sexy. How much did getting her polished up cost?
HP Tuners | Garrett T3/T04B | 2.5" Charge Pipes | 2.5" Downpipe | 650 Injectors | HO Manifold | Addco front/rear | Motor Mounts | HKS SSQV | Spec stage 3 | AEM UEGO Wideband | Team Green LSD | FMIC | 2.3 cams | 2.3 oil pump swap | 280WHP | Now ECOTECED

^^^No, The original Todd Miller, not the younger less informed copy
How much fluid does the charger need after the snout is removed?
The 3.1 pulley is good for about 13.5 or so PSI.

LMAO, I guess I'm the only one that caught that.
The charger looks good, did you polish it yourself?
Rodimus Prime wrote:so how did you get it polished i want to do that!
Take your car off the road, disassemble the charger, find a place that will polish it for you. (Hint do not give them the rotor section). When you get it back reassemble the snout and the rest of the SC, consider a clear powdercoat or a high temp clear paint prior to installation.
dude i drained mine today and it had less than 5oz in it! does gm say 8?
mike wrote:so when they polished it did they F*** something up?
fibers from the polishing pad got into the bearings.
As much the fibers as the compund and grit itself. They did not properly close off the open end of the snout, or cover the rotor gears. I spent a couple of days cleaning it out, prior to reassembly, and then drove about 22K prior to really bending and doing the rebuild....
I hate when that happens........ lol
13.5 psi out of a S/C sounds like fun.
