62 mm TB and S/C Reflash
Tuesday, November 07, 2006 9:43 AM
I've been having some trouble getting my new 62mm TB to do an idle re-learn on my '02 Z24 with a GM S/C reflash and an RSM blower. When I fire it up it idles at around 2000 rpm with the Throttle plate completely closed, touch the gas and it revs to redline without coming down. If I block the IAC opening on the TB with my finger the idle drops down perfectly to a normal idle. So bascially I can't get the IAC to close the plug all the way. I've disconnected my battery a few times to try and get it to do a re-learn with no luck. Is there a specific process to doing an idle re-learn. Anyone else running a S/C GM or other with a 62mm TB that has had a problem like this? I'd seriously appreciate any kind of help.

key on wait 15 seconds , key off for 15

do that 3 times then after the last start the car instead of off

if it still idles at 2000 then the throttle blade is not closed , or there is a leak some where

First thing that sticks out is a bad iac valve and second possible vacuum leak.

I'll have to give that a try...the Throttle plate is def closed.

You have a vacuum leak. If you completely plug your IAC port and it doesn't stall but idles normally its definetly a vacuum leak. With the Tech 2 I'm able to make my car idle at 400 rpm (its a manual so it idles around 925 rpm) just by closing the IAC a few steps.

My question is why do you have a GM reflash done on an RSM Vortec blower kit? First thing, don't buy RSM. Second, dont flash it with a flash not meant for it. I'm sure that caused something for sure.

....... UM^ wtf

I guess your right,

All of you running a turbo that has the GM flash get rid of it! I guess it doesn’t work with it because it’s a "different kind of boost" (I think the air may be cooler, more volume or maybe its pink?)

I don’t know where or how to start to correct you.

First, its boost in the intake,

One point for GM's 2 bar flash.

2ed it supports larger injectors, yet another point.

3ed it’s a basic "tune" for boost.

Another point?

Do some more research before you tell other's they are wrong.

I don't mind the comment as I am always not 100% sure of some things. Being from Ontario and having seen RSM's kit, I do know that it does not come with any new injectors or even a 2bar map sensor for that matter. They just slap in it and see you later. I've seen them do it five times already at their shop on one of my many visits to the horror of many people who know their work.

Now unless he's got some nice news ones in there to withstand his 7psi daily, he might have a problem show up unexpectedly.

I don't mind to be corrected and I do retract my original statement. The GM flash is a great starting point for any application, but if he just put the kit on and that's it, I kinda get worried about that.

I'm also running a 62mm throttle body on a GM LD9 Charger and no problems here. Also know that blownblackz is problem free with his too

The car was reflashed to run the GM S/C tunning and has been daily driven at 7 psi with absolutely zero problems. It works great, but that besides the point right now. I really want to figure out the TB problem and slap her on. I will try instlling it agin this weekend and I'll be sure to check again for leaks as well, but I'm doubting that this is the problem. I'm still thinking the IAC isn;t able to relearn that their is more air coming in at idle then there previously was.

try i what i said first

if you have a friend with a 2.4 that is running good swap tb's and see how they run

it could be the iac is bad , or a leak , something has to be causing the high idle , if the blade is closed then its a leak or the iac , unless the computer is comanding the idle that high for another issue , but there should be a code for that

I had a high idle problem with mine...turned out to be the ECM!

I'd say either vacuum leak or bad IAC motor.

yeah, I'd say vac leak.

oh, I had the RSM blower intercooled with the GM reflash and 310's, and it worked like a champ. Switched over to the eaton though. it's much nicer
