some of you know im about to drop in an ecotec in replacement of my old 2.2 now i'm looking at exhaust and was thinking of going with a pacesetter ceramic coated header. i currently have 2.24" piping from the cat back. my thoughts are to get rid of the cat and go 2.25" from the header on out. for right now this is all i will be doing to the engine until i can get the gm supercharger on it. does anyone think this is a poor choice, or will this be fine for now and for when i get the s/c on it. if i need to go bigger i'd like to go bigger back too where my 2.25" starts so that when the time for the s/c comes it would be one less thing i have to deal with.

The 2.25" will be fine for both n/a and supercharged. No worries there. Since you're spending the money though, I'd get a hi-flow cat instead of deleting it.
Hmm. To cat or not to cat...
If you have the option, I wouldn't put a cat on it. Restrictions are bad -- although a nice high-flow cat, especially 2.5" or something (especially keeping in mind the rest of my opinion below) would be a good compromise between keeping the enviros (and ecm) happy and keeping your engine happy.
And, if you're going to go far enough to change all the piping, I would go all the way up to 2.5", especially with a blower on the nose. I guess it might depend on how much 2.5 costs vs. 2.25, but with a supercharger, I would expect to see gains with a 2.5" pipe.
Anyway, if I were doing it, I would go header and 2.5" hi-flow with 2.5" mandrel cat-back.

Sleeper style, they don't see it coming that way.
Yeah J dont go bigger than your 2 1/4 NA right now.. When you go S/C Id bump it up to 2.5 piping with no cat
For now, leave the cat while your N/A. I left my 2 1/4 piping when I did my 2.4 swap, when the turbo goes on this winter im going to 3" turbo back...
You'll be fine with that 2 1/4 for now.

I put down 214whp with my 2.4 SC and a completly stock exhaust. I think your money may be better spent elswhere like Hp tuners.

well we're only really talking about a few horsepower here. Gain a little bit but gain a lot of nice sound
Check my profile. It is up to date. I made it with only those mods. I think hp tuners helped it tremendously.

my point is right now i have no header, not even the stock one. so i have to get one so i might as well get an aftermarket one so im wanting to know if going with the pacestter header is what people would reccomend.

the thing is i dont want a loud exhuast, i hate hearing a car sounding like it is hitting 9 grand and hauling ass and u look and see a guy doing 35 down the street, i want a quiet exhaust that doesnt suck my power up.
