headed to the dyno tomorrow - what to expect?
Monday, October 09, 2006 5:58 AM
We're having a 'dyno day' for the local j's, and unfortunately its only going to be 2 pulls (no tuning)

I have a decent tune going on right now, its a solid 12:5 all the way to 6400.

how do they take a tach signal? Anything I could get ready for them to make setup quicker? What gear should I do the pull in?

96 2.2L

condensed engine mod list:
* T3/t4 Garret 57 trim comp T4 .48 a/r ex. T3
* Top feed conversion
* JRC 6" FMIC (old style)
* WiseCo 8:1 (+.020") forged pistons
* ESP Eagle Rods
* Holley Commander 950
* Full 3" Downpipe Back Exhaust
* 2.5" Mandrel Bent Downipe (header wrapped)
* PnP
* Si Stainless Valves
* Mantapart 2.2L Upper Plenum Upgrade (56mm TB)
* ARP Headstuds
* Aeromotive Adj. Fuel Pressure Regulator
* 1.6:1 Comp Cams Roller Rockers
* 2.5" charge pipes
* 1st Gen DSM BOV
* Spec Stage III clutch (carbon)
* Isuzu Impulse Diff.
* Team Green Limited Slip
* Accel 8mm Plug Wires
* Converted to 1993 Cavalier DIS Module

12lbs of boost, any guesses on what I'll make?

Hoping to break 230whp with my current 'tune' though I think she might have more in her

I'll be sure to post the graph and a vid once I'm done.

thanks,

Steve

you should break 230 easy... with all that stuff!! If not, just turn up the boost!

How much boost do you plan on running?

275hp & 306tq - 1999 2.2 ohv
13.2 @ 108 mph
-1996 2.4 liter + Turbo + Built motor + Torco + More boost = Lots o' Power
-2000 Mustang GT + 2004 Cobra motor, Whipple 2.3 supercharger,
built rear-end,Dodge Viper spec T56 6 speed, bolt-ons = wheelies at the track!!!!!

Viper for your car it is the pink wire coming out of the IDI coer. For the 2.2 OHV not sure which wire to use. As for what gear either 3 or 4. Depending on if you have a way to get around the speed limiter will depend on what gear you want. If you can get around it do 4, if not go 3.

the best part about running a standalone is the fact that you don't have a speed limiter
(of course theres all that other good stuff about it too)

You use a plug wire.

He had some spark issues, but the #'s he did get showed great promise IMO. I'll let him post his own #'s if he chooses.

1/2 the cars that dyno'd had spark issues, but they all were impressive.

15.3 @ 89.97mph, 14's on the way?

dissapointed, I blew a coil pack in the middle of my run (seriously, it just 'QUIT')

207whp @ 4400 rpm, and I had to shut down right there. It blew at 4400 RPM, I still had 2000RPM to go.

I didn't notice what the torque was, but someone said at least 215.

I'm heading back on Monday to 'finish' what I started, and maybe get a better tune too.

12lbs, and I was in full boost by 3300rpm.

so will we have results the next day next time... or have to wait a week... lol

but not bad even if your coil pack did blow.

Awesome Steve

Might as well go with the MSD coils now

Can't wait to see the final numbers

yeah, I have 5 more spare coil packs to blow before I need MSD's, and this is just to get my run in before I park the fire for the winter.

Im dissapointed in 207 sorta, but I know Im good for more, I just have to NOT blow coil packs.
