I really want to run side pipes as I hate my current cat back and how it goes over the rear axle. I just installed a t-3 turbo and I need to finish the exhaust. I have all the parts to make a dual side exit but I was curious as to whether or not it will be too loud. I know alot of people in the performance forum said that side exits were really loud even with a muffler. I would prolly skip the cat but I would use a "glasspack" style muffler like this one:
Muffler
So do you think it will be too loud, or should I just give it a try??
200 wheelhorse or bust
as long as the car has performance to back it up, there is no such thing as TOO loud
On the other hand....you have other fingers.
I just bought a 20 inch widescreen ultrasharp flat pannel..I'm going to have to subscribe to the high quality porn places now......damn
i have a side exit on mine...with a converter to reduce the noise...and i can swap it out easily with a test pipe and it sounds louder...
here are some pics
ill have to get another pic of the exit...thats on my comp at work.....i think with a converter it sounds low an throaty and not loud and abnoxious like and import would with a stupid a$$ can on it......without the converter it sound louder but, i put that on when i go to the track......maybe i can take a short vid of how it sounds tomorrow too...
qbe had side exhaust.. god it was loud.
I have a side exit and its loud as crap. I mean like louder than harleys and semi trucks haha

I have a side exhaust on my 2001 2.2 cavalier. It is a 3" from the outlet of the turbo to the magnaflow 3" in/out mounted where the cat used to be and exiting through the bottom lip of the side skirt. Flows well, I ran a best of 14.1 @96 and have made 98 MPH runs too with 2.3 60 ft times. Has a distinct sound but is not extremely loud as it has the air flow volume to not have any rasp like many 4 cylinders with fart cans.

TRUE^^..it wont be as loud as you think just because it is a side exit.....with my converter on it sounds very nice and not loud at all to attract the police "if thats what your worried about"......but when you put a test pipe on it then its loud.....i was affraid to drive it with a test pipe on it, for the fear of being pulled over.......you'll be fine
there isnt much room for a side exit on the passenger side , since the gas tank is in the way
the 1's ive heard were kinda loud , and i didnt really care for them , but they were straight pipes
forgot to mention , just listen to a neon(srt4) with side exhaust , they sound kinda crappy

Sounds awesome but it was way too loud . I had no muffler, cat , or resonator on it. this was 3" equivelent oval side exit . Internal gate on a super 60. enjoy. lol

well if you think it's gonna be cool do it,, but there better be performance to back the noise up cause it's gonna be ungodly loud, but if you dream it do it, and it's definately would be way to much for me,
