well they both work the same way right? lets the exhaust bypass the turbine to limit boost?

Yeah, they both work the same way in practice. It removes pressure from the turbine, limiting the speed and ultimately the boost. The difference comes in when you need performance based wastegates. Internals work great for low boost situations, where there isn't a huge amount of air that needs to get out of that 20mm or so hole. Most aftermarket wastegates are 38mm or better, making them release more gases faster. This is helpful in high boost, high hp systems where you need to get that amount of air out just to regulate the boost.

i would go internal wastegate up to 15psi. sexy internal waste setup check out the picks. the setup allows for a large down pipe, simplified installion and there would be less fabrication,it's efficent,bolts to a 5 bolt housing and it looks sexy.
