ehy guys,

I recently got back into jbodys ( i used to have one a while ago) and It's a 98 z24. The guy that i bought it off of said they put a motor from a 2000 z24 into it. My question is how do i konw if he is telling the truth. Is there any way to tell if i have a pre 99 or 2000+ motor? thanks alot. any input is appreciated. ( reason im asking this is because i plan on charging it with the gm charger and i want to know if i can just get the kit and be ok or if i have to do all the work to make it work. ) thanks again

Look at the head, between the cam towers, there should be a part number.... 99+ uses a different head.... or is it 00+ I am not 100% sure right now... sorry...

If he used a 2k+ motor, but kept the 98 ecu, you'll still have the problem of not being able to reflash it. Don't rely on the EGR being there or not, you can add an EGR to a 2k+ motor, the hole is in the head, you just have to pipe it. I'm betting he used the 2k+ block/head, but kept the 98 accessories (intake manifold, exhaust manifold, ecu, etc). This would mean that putting an s/c on it would be the same as any other 98.
