alright i finished the turbo install, now im having some problems. first off its a garett t3, internal wastegate, with 2 nipples. i am using a manual boost controller. when i started the car it runs great however, the turbo is pushing lots of air through the pipes, I disconnected the pipes right aftr the intercooler. I switched the two vacuum lines on the waste gate, after they were switched when i started the car the turbo wasnt pushing any air, i left the charger pipe disconected, and took the car to 3000 rpms and held it steady for almost one minute, and im not seeing any boost, the boost guage reads 0 and no air would come through the charger pipes. i have all the vacuum lines T'd to the intake manifold. so how long should it take for the wastegate to open? any ideas what could be wrong?
First off make sure your wastegate is connected with a vaccum line right to a nipple off your turbo. If you are using a boost controller make sure it is installed on the vaccum line between that nipple and the wastegate and since im guessing you are using a manual controller make sure the hose coming from the nipple on your turbo is going to the nipple on the boost controller directly across from the adjustment screw.
As for not pushing any air at 3000 rpms...you wont make much if any boost while not in gear. When you are driving and the engine is under load you will make boost.
As for what sounds like a mess of vaccum ts up by your intake manifold look into one of these:

Its called a vaccum manifold...basically you provide it with the main vaccum source(intake mani) and you can use the nipples off the bottom to connect you your engine accesories, boost gauge, etc.

arn't you reading your boost off of the manifold? If the pipes arn't running into the manifold you wouldn't get any reading no matter what you do.

engine needs a load to make boost too.. hook it back up, take a spin around the block... with a load and everything hooked up it will make boost.

yah ill have to try takein it for a spin, like i said i have all of the vacuum hoses T and they go to the intake manifold, the boost guage did actually move, but not even to 1 psi.

I would have to dissagree with this one... You should hook your wastegate up to the manifold ... so the wastegate will see boost at the tb...
horsepower is how hard you hit the wall, Torque is how far you push the wall with you
^^^^that will work but you are seeing it later than what the turbo would see it at...the nipple on the compressor housing is there for specifically that reason...to go to the wastegate.....

im talking about the vaccum hose dude... wg attaches to either the manifold (external wg) or the turbo (internal wg), in both cases the vaccum source for the WG is SUPPOSED to be the nipple off the compressor housing of the turbo.
If you are saying connect the hose off the WG to the TB that is not how its done. At least i've never seen it done that way thus far and my companies tuner has tuned more kits than i've seen with my own 2 eyes, and thats how he does it.

yep...
wastegate vac source ahs to come from the compressor
LE61T PTE6262 Powered
wastegate vacuum source does not have to come from the compressor...if you run it from the manifold then the wastegate will open at the pressure in the manifold instead of the compressor, which will be different because of pressure drop and @!#$ like that. running it at the compressor housing it will open at your set amount on the compressor then lose pressure through the charge pipes and IC..if you have it off the manifold then the wastgate see's the pressure after the pressure drop..
at least thats how i see it
manifold=better
a wastegate is not supposed to see vacuum. Wastegate should see pressure only. manifold = wrong way. If your worried about the pressure drop off the intercooler tap the charge pipe right before the throttle body and put a nipple on and run a vacuum hose to the wastegate. But most turbos have a port on the compressor for that reason to go right to the internal gate or the external gate.
