Turbo Dif between Auto/5-speed??
Wednesday, August 02, 2006 6:45 AM
My question is this I have read the turbo list above and I believe its for a 5 speed so my question is this I have an 03 Cavalier Eco its an auto.... i have been going back and forth between 3800 swap or turbo and at this point in time i would like to do a turbo... is there anything different for a auto... such as fuel managment and that kinda stuff?

Check out my registry for more information about my turbo auto ecotec setup. Charge pipes have to be ran a little different from the 5 speed. Everything else can be done like the 5 speed. Have fun!! Its a fun car once turbo'd.

you'd spend A LOT morwe swapping in a 3800 then you would turbo'ing the auto, plus you'd make the same if not mroe power turbo'ing the auto

Parts are the same, auto or manual, the difference is in how the pipes are routed and how the oil return is plumbed.

No one mentioned this yet, but the down pipe may not work if you're using a kit made for a 5 speed.

When we did mine, the hardest part was the 3 inch downpipe. It's eight different pieces.

oh my god I could not imagine doing a 3 inch DP for an auto. I spent a week and a half doing my 2.5

Ah, the good ole, gigantic auto! The main problem with fitment on an auto is the stupid casing of the differential, where it runs over to the passenger half shaft. The manual trans has so much more room its ridiculous!

For Pics - go to Photobucket. Search for Spitfir304. Its in the "Upgrades for Cavalier" album. I'd put a link in here but I can't get into it at my work.
