not a noobish muffler question

I'm in the last half of collecting my turbo project, and It's time for me to start thinking about exhaust. I've gotten some pretty good deals on parts so I wanted to use the extra money and have a nice quality muffler.

I mean something along the lines of borla (turbo/XL), tanabe (turbo specific,concept Gblue?), apexi, greddy I don't think makes universals outside of the vehicle specific catagory...... amoung other nicely made mufflers(be it round or oval....but mostly oval.)

but I got to thinking that turbo quiets exhaust, and with most quality mufflers their tone and decible level tend to be lower and more sophisticated than say a magnaflow, dynomax or flowmaster/ amoung the other various mufflers that just get slapped on. I started to search and surprisingly didn't find much info on turbo owners and muffler brands.
I'm basically asking if this would be a very nice investment or just a bit of wasted money.

my suggestion after having quite a few different exhaust set ups on my car now, go 2.5" turbo back and get something like a Magna flow, or borla muffler and defiantly go oval ahah something about the round ones make it look SOOOO ricey...
but then i am all about having my car very quiet, nothing i hate more then a loud car...

i have done the 3" turbo back route and its just too loud because the 3" mufflers are a race style straight threw with very little to muffle sound... where as if you go to a 2.5" you get the street style with more muffling... so if your really set on a 3" system keep it all 3" and just put a muffler with a 2.5" inlet on... your not going to effect it really do this (or not that i noticed any thing any way) and if you ask me 3" on a Jbody is WAY to big unless your putting down 400+hp numbers

take a look at all the muscle cars they all run a 2.5" exhaust and are putting out any ware from 325hp-400hp ... hence 3" being over kill on a jbody...

The First Twin Charged jbody
blue car (R.I.P) - 240whp @7psi..
silver car - 305whp 315lbs.tq @15psi (91 Octane) or 420whp & 425lbs.TQ @20psi (94 octane+Alcohol Injection)
All dynos run on a Mustang dyno

def staying with the 2.5.

I basically made this post cause I wanted to get something different(no more magnaflows) with this setup. Just wanted to have that nice little something. horsepowerfreaks.com has the apexi N1's in different colors. I hope their gold is more of a bronze cause thats the scheme of the rims and car. But basically I want the quiet sophisticated type quality.

Mabye look at it like, I want a muffler made with a turbo in mind to be behind it.

2.5" exhaust, borla muffler would be a good setup if you want to keep away from magnaflow, since they are over-rated and everywhere. Like Josh said if your looking at putting out more than 400+hp go with a 3" exhaust.

i know its completely illegal and this is just a track setup but i love how my buddys 3inch turboback sounds...no cat, no resonator, no muffler....at idle its quieter than some aftermarket exhausts
