So I put on a different wastegate.....

turbo Came with a 10lb actuator but I wanted to only run 6lbs of boost. Bought this http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ATP-WGT-011B&Category_Code=WGT and installed it.
Just had a quick question or two about this. The original wastegate was welded on, and the arm was slanted coming out of the plunger (the wastegate domed part) and angled in towards the flapper. It had a decently sharp angle to it, almost enough to hit the side of the hole where the arm is extended out of the bottom of the plunger. ok....
the new one doesn't have as sharp of an angle as the old one, but it does slightly. is this ok for my wastegate arm to be somewhat angled coming out of the plunger/actuator and down to the flapper on the housing? I also wanted to ask if I was correct in shimming the wastegate up far enough to make sure it pulled the flapper tightly shut. I had to pull the arm down some millimeters to connect the end of the arm to the flapper. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't do any damage by doing this.

I'll try and get some pics when it stops raining so I can go to the store for batteries.

your fine no dammage done..

but the shimm??????? i don't know if you will get boost creep or not..

horsepower is how hard you hit the wall, Torque is how far you push the wall with you

The angle is fine..... and so if the shim.... as long as the flapper cannot be opened with the actuator arm attached... (or move at all)..... your fine...

Thank you for the reassurance
The shim was present on the original wastegate, but it was all welded together so I had to make one. Had to saw the welds and then drill my own holes in the bracket since none were present. The shim just raised the wastegate up off the bracket to make sure the flapper was pulled tight.

I wasn't too worried about it, but this is something new to me so I had to turn to the org for a little guidence.
