I'd say do some research about what your choices are, decide exactly what you want, come up with a price range to start with and then go for it.....or don't. You can always spray nitrous or something if you dont want to go through the turbo build, but there are still reliability issues! Good luck man!

I wouldnt bother turboing with the amount of km's on the engine.

I would look into an ecotec swap, it will be a little harder for you since you have a 98, but it will be an ideal swap. The ecotec engine is a lot more reliable than the 2.4 and a much better swap IMO.

If you want to keep the same engine and go turbo, go right ahead, the turbo kit at jtuners only runs like 4.5psi and made 180.3 HP and 215 lb/ft torque at the wheels on the dyno. With the low psi your not killing your engine as easy, you can probably go another 20-50k on the engine with the turbo id say.

But with the turbo ecotec your looking at more than 200 horsepower, and low 14s, high 13s, with a reliable engine.

i was definatley looking into the eco swap but from what i hear for a pre-2000 body it would a lot cheaper to just sell my car and get a good j-body with an ecotec alreddy in it, i think what im just gonna do is go with the all show no go through college with my 98 then when i get a real job ill get an ecotec untill then i'lll just sit and wait

now dont feed him bad information.... lol theres nothing wrong with the 2.4. all you have to do to make the 2.4 strong is 2.3 oil pump swap and build the internals. theres a lot more stuff you can do like hybrid cams from older quad 4 motors. its really all in what you like. I like my 2.4 for a few reasons.
1 being the ability to use parts from older quad motors
2 being the block is iron vs aluminum ecotec block
3 the displacement is bigger stock

those are what gets my attention. plus you could even build a 2.6 stroker motor if you wanted. I dont know of any ecotec that can do that
