Okay, today i was tinkering around with my car, and i found out that i'm not boosting because i have an underdrive crank pulley, which isn't spinning my blower fast enough to create a whole lot of boost, i think i'm boosting at like 1 pound...lol. It sucks, but i'm gonna order a light weight, stock sized, pulley. and maybe a smaller blower pulley also, maybe like a 2.7 or maybe at the most, a 2.6, but i'm leaning more towards a 2.7" I also need a header and after that i think i'd be pretty happy with the whole setup. I took my car up to the chevy dealership in Ozark, AL to get the reflash done, but the freaking retards wouldn't do it, because i guess the reflash is for a "2000" 2.4l Twin Cam, and they wouldn't do it because i have a 99, what kinda $@@# is that? That pissed me off! So, i'm going to go for the HPtuners program and do it myself. I've had nothing but problems with the dealerships around here....i oredered a new A-pillar for the driver side and they sent me a passenger side instead.....retards! Anyways, i just wanted to let everyone know that before you S/C your 2.4 make sure you haven't put an underdrive crank on it.
NEW SIG COMING SOON FOR 07'!!!

Its the truth. The S/C reflash cannot be applied to any year before 2000.

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
in response to your keen observation of your pulley/boost problem: uh..... duh?
in response to the reflash issue: maybe try researching what you're doing to your car, before you do it?

Racetech in toronto put a crank pulley on a 2.4 that was 1/2inch oversized and lightweight. Gained 2 psi.
^ that is what i been wanting to do for years. awesome. maybe i will contact them and ask them about it.

Did they have it custom made?
What would be the value in this? Why would you want to overdrive your other accessories?
I dont think that will be a problem . If you are worring about spinning the alternator faster. People now a days can have reved 2.4ls around 7k rpms with hp tuners.
I know with the honda cars, people with the jackson racing s/c have put on a crv crank pulley to gain more boost.
i am not sure of the downfalls of doing a bigger crank pulley, maybe always spinning the alternator faster then normal over time wouldnt be a good idea.
also , ford lightening /cobra's have bigger then stock size crank pulleys available.
Yeah Kevin, it was custom made and it was a beautiful piece. Aluminum, much lighter than stock and 1/2 inch bigger. Noticed a big difference and once they put alcohol injection on, it was like a whole new car. I went in it before and after and the difference was very noticible.
Bigger crank pulley = the same sort of effect as a smaller supercharger pulley.
The alternator has a voltage regulator inside it... it will govern itself, no worries there. The A/C (if you still have it), that will just be colder faster
It's not as if you're sitting at high RPMs all the time... just once in a while right?
ya i am interested in that pulley. i pm'd you (gtpsunfire).
i will see if i can get incontact with racetech here soon.
i use to have the rsm pulley on my old 2200 s/ced cav. it does make a differance it is so f'in light
they told me 250$ canadian . i have to figure out what that is in usa $.
I would be interested in that pulley as well. Jake, please keep me in the loop
BTW, that is $220.45 US

the larger crank pulley will allow you to use a larger s/c pulley , which would help to reduce belt slippage
the a/c shuts off over 85% throttle and heavy engine loads
alt will charge better at slower speeds , with less motor drain
I didnt get your PM Jake. Well atleast you got in contact with them. It really was a nice piece.
ya i am uncertain though.
i mean a smaller s/c pulley does the same thing basically and is cheaper and you probably woudlnt have to get a new belt and would be cheaper.
i also e mailed that guy in the performance forum who made up them 2.4/ ecotec pulleys.
i will check back here.
dude who makes the pulleys in the performance section said 275/ 300$. f' that.
racetech said they used the stock s/c belt too.
Jake, are you talking about Mike who did the GP on dual pulley sets???
I wonder if he will just make 10 to 15 pullies what the price will be. I am sure we can get at least that many sold
Anyword from Racetech???

ya. he charges like what, little over 100$ for the stock size pulleys.
racetech- they said they use the stock belt that came with the s/c.
i e mailed APEX( i once had there stock size pulley /so did you). they havent gotten back to me.
so as of right now, only option is racetech for 225 ish $. fricken crazy.
also, GP said he knows a guy that might be able to make one. i have to get that info.
just e mailed the dude at billetflow.com and asked him if he can do something like this.
i will keep you updated.
Yeah, I remember when Mike started his design, there was a big debate on oversize crank pullies
Yes, I did have one of the Apex pullies, but traded it for 4.11 ring gear and output shaft
$225 is a stretch but I would be willing to pay it for an oversized crank pulley

nope. seriously contemplating selling the s/c set up. got to get stock stuff first, still on the cav though.
seems like the best/cheapest way is a pulley boys pulley.
