Inter cooling GM S/C

I am really wondering about thisone. Since the GM S/C is suppoed to have a self contained intercooler. How would I go about putting on a seperat intercooler?

my understanding is that you want the intercooler after the air is blown or compressed. Thus cooling the air. If the air gets cooled before entering the S/C, won't it heat back up? I'm sure it would probably help some to have it before, im just not sure how much benefit it would be? Thats what i've learned sort of through reading on the internet, im not really into boosting/boosted cars...so i could be wrong.

maybe if it was an air to water inner cooler in the supercharger, you might be able run it through an oil cooler, or a small radiator or something, to cool the water, then send it back to the supercharger to cool the intake air.

but i dont know jack a superchargers with built in innercoolers.

I do know that if you have the set up going like this, intake to intercooler to S/C, it will be pretty restictive. I have been checking out the Coolingmist setups, but I really do not know about doing that. The CRY O2 is just to expensive for something like that. So I do not know what else to even think about looking for.

Well the GM charger for the ecotec has a built in cooler in the revised manifold for the charger to bolt on too. The Cavalier/sunfire kit comes with this bypassed but with you can by the parts to complete the setup so its like the cobalt ss.

have any of the 5-speed guys used the auto radiator for the trans cooler ports for water jacks for the s/c?

Sven you totally quarterloafed your computer..

^that would heat it up more than it would cool the coolant.

Oooh, nice to know. I thought you had to use the ss charger like airtonics to be able to use a cooler.

My typhoon intercooler is air to water. It is a little different setup but basically, you can use an aftermarket oil cooler for more surface area, or you can use a motorcycle radiator (fan too if you want it to cool between runs at the strip). The more water you get into the system, the longer it will take to heatsoak. I don't know alot about S/C coolers, I mostly know turbo water to air coolers.

ZeRoBuRn, thanks for the info on that. I did not know that they revised the manifold. So I will be getting the rest of the parts to complete the intercooler contained within itself.
Jay 2K2 Sunfire GT, just to let you know, I know what the search button is for and found NOTHING on this, except for the CryO2 and Coolingmist. If you would have read what I had said about that then you would have noticed that I was looking for any ideas to intercool the S/C. Also seeing from your profile, why would I even think about listening to you, your not even boosted according to your profile. If you are by now then update your profile. Because until then what you have to say really means nothing to me. Since I did the search and found nothing really (outside of the 2 for mentioned items).
