wld it b worth it to boost a 2200 4 spd auto? i kno i got stuck with the worst of both worlds. how much hp gain wld that give me? i already hav an AEM cai a pacesetter header nd a RKsport catbvack exhaust system
the tranny has nothing to do with how much HP you can gain from an engine. it only affects how its transfered to the wheels and with a good stall and shifting additive, it'll do just fine. your lucky you have the 4spd or the 4T40E as its referred too. how much HP will depend on how much boost you add to it. yes its worth it to boost a 2200.
Thank you ur response was much appreciated. Shld i go with a turbo or supercharger?
you don't have the worst of both worlds. i do. i have the 95-97 2.2 and the 3 speed automatic. you lucked out, all you need to do is swap in larger injectors for boost, where people with the 95-97 2.2 have to do a topfeed conversion.
definitely go with boost, you'll love it. the car will be so much more fun to drive and the look on people's faces when they hear your car is priceless. turbo would be your best bet, cuz i think the only supercharger for your motor is from RSM and they pretty much suck. go with a kit from jtuners.com, you won't be disappointed
Sweeeet dude ur car is awesome
yes turbo is your best route. there are several good brands of kits out there for the 2200. a little research into what your looking for in the end will determine which kit and which brand you go with.
I didn't want to make a new topic, and his question was answered, but my question is with a 2.2l eco, does the gm charger seem to go well with the engine?
The reason I ask is that the charge pipes are hard to fit for an auto 2.2 eco, and the tranny heats up a lot (probably with super too), but would the gm charger perform well with the engine? I would get an autotrans shifter, or something like that, (maybe even do manuel swap), but I just want opinions on an s/c'd 2.2l auto fire.
from what i've seen in here the Eco takes a S/C very well. a tranny cooler will quell any extra heat problems that might arise from adding boost. autotrans shifter will help too.
i wouldnt worry about the shift kit, the only time my trans slipped with all my mods is in the hot heat and ive had no problems since i installed my oil/trans cooler, that shift kit stuff is a joke cause when you take it off if you decide to ive heard alot of trannys are messed up because of the line preasure the kits put on the trans, so if yours isnt slipping then install a cooler and you should be good to go.

all you need to do to avoid any weird tranny problems when removing the shift helpers is remove your negative cable and re-set the computer and it will re-learn the tranny without the shift helper. really easy procedure. i've had 2 vehicles with the Autotrans then removed them and no problems with the tranny's.

I knew a guy with a 2200 4 speed auto with turbo on stock motor running around a 14.6-14.7. Pretty good if you ask me.
FU Tuning
Just a small update, a stock 4 speed i know of is holding up just fine to 300whp and 7,200 rpm redline.
