GM Eco Charger+3" pulley= 14.6psi
Monday, June 26, 2006 7:48 PM
I finally pushed the car hard tonight on the highway since I havent been to the track since putting the 3" pulley on and I hit 14.6psi. The IAT temps got up to 165F though, so Im wondering is this pretty good or not really? The heat exchanger Im running is 24x7x3 and the car cools back down to 132ish after about 10 seconds once I let off, but Im thinking I could benefit from a larger heat exchanger, especially once I go down to a 2.6"or 2.7" pulley. I tried to get a pic of the gauge but it ended up all blurry from the camera phone. I cant wait to get to the track again.

damn, so it would run even hotter without a heat exchanger. I need to find the parts list for the heat exchanger setup fast lol.

nice

is that the stock heat exchanger that comes with the kit? is there upgrades for it?
what about water/meth injection..do the same thing but maybe a little easier and safer?

^^ I think the whole intercooled topic with the eco charger has been beat to death... Its not really a hard concept. The kit comes with the intercooler cores in the intake manifold, nothing else. Its not "intercooled" until you get some hose, a pump and the heat exchanger, none of this comes with the GM kit. The Heat Exchanger Im running is one sold on ebay that the guy claims works or was designed for a Mustang Cobra making up to 400hp, I think I need to duct the air to the heat exhanger better and/or buy a bigger heat exchanger.

Wow, that's some mean boost for jsut the 3"

As far as the IAT goes, I am not intercooled at all right now and I am running the same temps, but thats with the stock pulley.

Keep us updated.

WOW... my iat's never got above 130 even when my iat was wrapped up enxt to my manifold... (I never had it in the actual incoming air) so i routed it into my grill until I get my custom Intake Manifold

Well if it's not reading the hot compressed air, of course it won't read as high as those who are.

That's alot of boost, good luck getting those IAT's under control. Did you note what effect the intercooler had on your temps before/after? Do you have it running of a dedicated coolant supply, or tapped into the engine coolant system?

Do you have any pics of the setup? I am interested in seeing what you've done...

thats in the area of borderline pushing the motor a bit too far with stock rods, those IATs arent good for it, anything over 111 the pcm is pulling timing all over and your losing power

So obviously my heat exchanger is too small or I have an air pocket in my line somewhere. Im going to get some water wetter to see how much that helps me.

Or it's getting heat soaked from where it's located. Some pics of your setup would be cool, and I'll bet water wetter will help out.

I know for a fact whats in my charge pipe was much cooler then what was enxt to the engine...

Hmmm with the 3.0 pulley I only saw 12-13 psi

It took me the 2.8 pulley to see 15, which felt awesome but I will forewarn you.... The rods do not like 15psi at least mine didn't

^^^I hit 13.2 rather easily in the city according to the aeroforce gauge. Thats as high as I honestly expected to hit though with the 3" pulley. 14.6" is kinda scary after seeing what you did with the 2.8" Ill try to get pictures tomorrow I get out earlier in the day.

honestly i think its a little closer to 13.5 - 14 psi. The pulley seems a little smaller than a 3.0 to me but i cant be 100% sure.

the GM Reflash and no heat exchanger shouldn't be a problem if I have the 3" pulley right? I plan on getting a heat exchanger but its just the reflash i'm mainly worried bout.
