damaged fin on wheel, still usable?

just got a stage 3 upgrade turbine wheel. and saw a fin or two was bent, (no biggy should be able to fix them) one was chipped however and i was wondering if it will affect performance at all? one of the little corners were broke off.

more then likely it is not fixable or reuseable as the wheel needs to be precisely balanced. your best bet is to check with a turbo rebuild shop as they will have a better answer.

what do you think?

spin something at 65000 rpms and have 1 fin .01 ounce off.. think it'd make a difference?

If you do that, I think I'll personally have to drive over to you and kick you square in the nuts. You'd be risking further damage to your turbo and engine when you know its bad, take our advice man, get a new turbine wheel.

Aircraft engines spin at 14k RPM+ with blends in the blades (nicks sanded down).. Possibility?

I think people would be quite surprised at the amount of damage allowed on aircraft engine compressor or turbine blades. Anyway if they are really small bends and the chip has been blended in some way AND it has been run on a balancer in this condition then it COULD very well run fine. But if the bends are more severe and/or the chips happened after the balance then you would run into some dynamic balance issue for sure. I guess it comes down to whether you trust the guy or not that it was balanced like that.

i dunno. he has 100% feedback and seems pretty honest and wasn't a dick about anything. he said he knows about the little bend. but never noticed the corner being broke off. it's kinda easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. argh. sometimes things can suck balls so bad.

if was balanced like that then i don't really see the big deal. anyone ever deal with majestic turbo?

i think i may just send it off to get rebalanced/checked. i don't see it affecting performance enough to notice other than if it was off balance.

NO NUT KICKING! I LIKE MY NUTS. LoL.

it's when crap like this happens i feel like just quiting. but thank God i am so freaking hard headed.

My turbo is down with Majestic Turbo right now in Waco TX. They have been very helpful so far... I have been talking with John. I'm having the seals re-done and replacing the compressor wheel that had come in contact with the housing a few times.... He mentioned that he may be able to clean up the existing wheel and balance it, but I opted for a new one to be safe.
