Ok i was just playing with megasquirt some more, and realized that in the semi hot weather here right now (probably around 80 degree's f.) i'm getting intake temps of between 95-110 degree's f.
I'm running around 7 psi on a small turbo (.42/.48) with a JRC 6" classic intercooler, THe cooler works great, but once the charge pipes get over the engine they heat up again, and thats where the IAT sensor is, as close to the TB as i could get it...and even if i'm out of boost i have the high temps because of the pipes heating up from the engine
I'm just curious what every one else's intake temps are?
and besides water/meth injection what are some ways to keep the intake temps down?
You could try wrapping (header wrap) your charge pipes, this will keep out allot of the ambient temperature from the engine bay.
That is al your intake temps are. Not that bad. Is that daytime temps? My turbo Z has seen 240 degrees intake temps, but it is non-intercooled.

thats what i was think also, i have some extra wrap so i might do it, but i was just curious what others are running

yeah these are day time temps, i can deffinetely feel a difference between day and morning
i get intake temps around 135 when idling and about 170 when boosting about 5 lbs.

okay i guess paranoid, and thought those were high temps, but seems like more people have higher temps
ive seen temps in the 240-250 range on my cav , and the is with NO BOOST
I've been monitoring my iat temps some with hp tuners and was getting up to around like 210 normal driving. i have the gm s/c with reflash, not intercooled or alcohol injected. I wasn't sure if these numbers were accurate since the people with the ecotec gm s/c can't use it yet except for basic guages(more on that whole thing in other threads). Does anyone know if these temps sound right? I thought they sounded way too high, but based off everyone else's numbers here I must be missing something because they sound normal compared to those other temperatures. So what is causing it to get so hot? Or is there a possibility the sensor is bad? I read somewhere on another site about people having problems with the iat sensor on our cars.
Noticing the temperatures brings me to another question. What route would be best for me to lower them. I believe lowering them can help given the drastic performance differences i feel between a cold day and a hot day. Should I try to hook up the intercooler, should I go for something like coolingmist, should I do both? or maybe something else?
Also to 97cavie24ls in particular and whoever else is thinking about doing this: I thought I remember you talking about hooking up the intercooler on a eco s/c. Have you tried that yet? Did it help much? Also since the intercooler core is built in to the manifold (right?) will it still see any drastic psi loss if we hook it up? or will the psi pretty much stay the same? Thanks alot.
