i've been searching for a turbo for a bit now and i understand a bit but not to the extent that i should which is starting to frustrate me
i have a 2.4 ld9
all im going for right now is roughly 260hp @ the wheels and i know the T3 Super 60 is always a great candidate for our motors as well but what trim/ar is gonna work for low lag and produce the #'s i want?
i dont care if doesnt hit full boost til roughly 3500rpm but would prefer full spool around 3000rpm
i apologise for having yet another post but i havent had any luck and this is my last result

The T3 super 60 will spool around 3k rpm or sooner. I purchased mine from down2turbo off of ebay it was the cheapest. I think you will be happy with it.

i got my turbo from www.ATPturbo.com and they are definatly good guys to deal with... the beat any price i could find as well not even 24hrs later after ordering it, it was sitting in my living room... thats fast delivery if you ask me... and that was from california to calgary... so it would be to the same for you scott...
here is one turbo which would probably put you into a good part on the turbo map... but if you even wanted to go to 300hp this would have to be changed but on the up side you would have quick spool up with this turbo....

if you want somthing slightly bigger with maybe a bit more spool up time but has the flexability to go over 300hp if you ever decide to you could go with this one....

I built my kit from scratch. There are a few companies on the .org but it's hard to tell you what your options are without telling us what engine you have. Also, why do you need to turbo your car "ASAP"??? Boost isn't something to rush into.

'super 60' is the trim. It's related to the inducer / exducer ratio of the impeller wheel. Since a 'super 60' turbo is judged by the wheel only, you can get it with whatever a/r you want...both compressor and turbine housings. For your app, I would suggest a .60a/r compressor, and a .63a/r exhaust. Some people get the smaller housings (.42/.48) to reduce spool time, but it will limit your power and top end. Mike K put 400+whp down with the .63 turbine housing, so there will be no need to upgrade that later. Also, my stock lil LN2 spooled 9psi almost instantly with a .63a/r/.60 60-trim, so lag will definitely not be a problem.
Still, as you can see in the thread I linked, I would recommend .63 T3/ 50trim T04E for your motor. This won't be much a hindrance right now (as far as spool time), and will let you run 400+whp later if you want.
You mentioned compressor surge as being related to max psi...not really a link there. You deal with compressor surge when you try to run a lot of boost from a big turbo on a small engine at lower rpm (or when you have a faulty BOV). Your "max psi" as you say will be determined by the rest of your system. The more you compress the air, the hotter it will become. With a better cooling system (big FMIC, alky/water inj), you can safely run more boost. You will also want to retard your timing when running with hotter air to help deter detonation. The biggest factor in how much boost and how much power will be your tuning, don't cheap out there, and don't rely on band-aids.

The turbo you listed is a 60 trim, very close to a super 60 (chances are that you'd never notice the difference). If you're planning on building your engine later, why get a little turbo that you'd have to replace? GO 50 TRIM
