Hello i have a 96 z 24 cavalier with an automatic tranny.. and i was wondering if a turbonetics T3/T4 50. trim turbo will fit with the tranny?...I know it is close but i do not know anyone that has it on there car... Please get back to me with some feedback... Thanks A Lot!
Yes it will. This is the same turbo I have in my setup used on a buddy's car that was an auto. I have the T3/TO4B. I even have a tubro log manifold that would be good for you if you want. It is ready with a EGT bug welded in and also a wastegate flange ready. Check out my classifieds add for it. Good luck
Trey, what have you done to ensure the turbo will fit a bit better? Angled the T3 flange up a bit or...?
Also, in your experience what's the largest A/R you think you can fit on an auto? I've seen a .63 A/R not fit with an exploited manifold, but I know if you angle the flange you can get a bit more space.... I've looked at the situation in the past for auto owners and I just don't see how a reaaaly large A/R turbo is going to fit.

I will db check to make sure it will fit on my auto, but remember I one of the few Turbo Headers for an Auto custom made.
it depends on what manifold you have. im running the exploited staniless manifold with a t3/t4. the compressor housing is tight as hell on the heater lines, i also had to re route the fuel lines a bit to allow for space to plumb a proper intake to the turbo. i was also able to run the compressor outlet under the engine for less charge pipe mess up top. it was a major PITA with the auto all up in the way but got it done. rotating the flange like these guys are talking about will help alot.

I have a custom made header that is mated to a Innovative T3/T04e and external wastegate and its a wicked tight fit on the auto - so tight that where the wastegate is mounted, it has bumped into the firewall a few times when the car shifts hard (due to high setting on the transtuner)
that reminds me... I gotta make more room for that wastegate ....
So yes, it can be done with log and header, if they are designed with the auto trans in mind.

Check out my Part Out List!! Great Prices !!

I'm almost sure that this is the same one that I have, but I bought mine off Brandon Fetter. Once I get back with him I will know what it is. I'm almost sure it was.

I know you reworked one of Mr. Macks manifolds....
the reason I ask is because I've had ppl come to me with advice with .6+ a/r turbos on a log manifold with autos who said the turbo hit the damn transmission... so I'm wondering how a log manifold would be handled.
I'm so glad I don't have that fat beast (the tranny) strapped to the back of my engine. What a headache.

Yea I know about the damn beast of an auto. I have 3 extra transmission layin' around right now, and when I just moved into the new house the guys made sure I was on the heavy side when carryin' it. I'm glad my project J is a 5-speed.
