eco charger without A/C. special pulley ?
Monday, May 01, 2006 1:08 PM
Hi.

I'm pretty pissed right now. My eco charger is being installed at a dealer and it seems that since my car doesn't have A/C they are going to have to add a special pulley called "idle pulley" or something like that which obviously I am going to have to pay.

Did this happen to anybody else during their install ?

i think everyone else has a/c

im not that fimilar with non-ac equiped J's

so if yours doesnt have a idler pulley , in order for the special belt to fit you will need the idler pulley

the belt is a double sided belt , and they are not very common

update: my setup is up and running !! just have to pick my caru p at the dealer this afternoon.

what they did is install a used A/C compressor with no other purpose than the extra pulley so the belt now fits.

I hope an AC compressor doesn't weigh too much...I kinda like my racing edition lightest sunfire

I say get home, pull the AC off and gut the whole unit so its only a housing and a pulley. Or if you really want to get creative, have someone make a bracket with just a pulley running off it so you wont even have to worry about having the AC pump on the car anymore.

thanks for the suggestion, but since it weighs about 15 pounds, it's not really worth my time. I'm not THAT picky about getting the best possible times.
