smaller belt for 2.6" pulley.. tough to get on.

well,
i got the gates micro v k050720 belt, and its noticeably shorter then the stock s/c belt. But how in the Fck do you get it on. I think i have to take off the upper mount to have enough room to swing my belt tool over to slip it on.

what did others do to get that sucker on?

It's not that hard. Just put a 15mm wrench on the bolt going through the tensioner pulley, pull it back, and put on the belt...

I haven't had any problems putting that belt on with the 2.6 pulley.........Only thing that bugs me is I can never remember how the belt is supposed to be routed so it takes me a couple times to get it on I'm a little belt retarded hahaha

Nate i found that taking off the pass tire and inner fender and putting it on all pulleys cept the crank pulley and using a bar and socket to turn the crank pulley and working it on that way worked best.

mm.. kinda defeats the purpose of a quick change pulley, whenthe belt takes 30-45 min.

Can't get my 15 mm wrench past the mount either.mm.. have to crank at it again tomorrow.

the quick change is called such due to the fact that rather than needing a puller to take off the pulley, it uses the allen keys to be removed. nothing to do with the belt. that'll always be a biotch!!

Through the wheel well is always the easiest whenever I take mine off.

I need to get my hands on that Gates belt myself.

do what i do, get yourself a slim wrench, its about a half inch wide 2 foot long wrench with the size you need it on that you slip up past all the pulleys and do your duty, super easy. like this but 2 foot long.

sorry to bring this up from the dead, I have been searching a bit and came up with nothing.

I just recieved my gmsc, I was turboed and then stock for almost 2 years, now I needed something for the winter beater. It came with a 2.7" pulley, but no belt, I have read in some posts that I can use a gatorback belt. Any ideas what part numbers I am looking for, or what length, I think I will install thursday, thanks guys!
