Well.............I would go with either the delco 1 or 2 step plugs............I've been using the 2 steps for about 2.5 months now....and havent had a problem....actually the car ran better a/f's with them...........................................but I just put the 1 steps back in just to do some datalogging.......to compare the two plugs.......

So if I were you I would get the 2 step delco plugs..........I have mine gapped at 40 btw.....Any other q's just ask

Friends, two questions? What codes would be Iridium plugs one and two step colder? NGK or Denso?

Thanks for the info friend. But these are V-power NGK copper electrode spark plugs. Do you know the equivalent for Iridium ones?

Sorry to ask, friends. I forgot to search before ask. Anyway I found the info.

All this info and codes are for NGK spark plugs:
Engine Type Part No. Stock No. Plug Gap Stock LD9 V-Power TR55 3951 0.05"
Stock LD9 Iridium IX TR55ix 7164 0.05"
LD9 one step colder V-Power TR5 2238 0.045"
LD9 one step colder Iridium IX TR5ix 7397 0.045"
LD9 two steps colder V-Power TR6 4177 0.052"
LD9 two steps colder Iridium IX TR6ix 3689 0.052"

Another info I found some time ago, is that platinum spark plugs are not good in boosted appl. You should use copper spark plaugs , like NGK's V-Power or Iridium ones.

I hope that info help.

Regards,

Re: spark plugs

well the plugs went in and its all good, i finally got my methanol injection set up and done, gotta work the cut in for the alky a bit yet and maybe upgrade the nozzle but all in all it pulls like a raped up now, dyno sheet and power #'s are on the way hopefully by the end of today and gonna call calvin and take him for a rip as well if he wants

yeah as funny as it is, i put down a 202hp and 193tq @ the wheels. but i need to jet the methanol for more spray but the more pulls i did back to back the more power i got cause the blower was getting colder and colder so same power #'s but no heat soak which is nice. levi and i got the n20 kit on its way so for a 230hp@the wheels at least

DO NOR USE NGK IRRIDUM PLUGS. I used these in my turbo 2.2l and was on the highway doing 240 when the porslin insulator cracked in 2 and fell into the combustion chamber, the insulator used in the irridum plugs is a harder material for the working conditions of its fine tip. this catapulted into the cylinder head being banged by a new set of weisco pistons i had to wait for 7 weeks. There was such a big bang we thought I hit a rock in the road and it hit the bottom of the car but it was the piston slamming this into the cylinder head so hard that it is embedded into the piston. I had to get the piston reconditioned and take out the high spots of the crator it left. The cylinder head looked like I beat it with an ice pick hammer. I have since found out that on some other forums that others have found this out too so based on that I am sticking to copper plugs for $2 a plug.

ya i got them plugs in bobby.

i dont know about them. i get a nice bogging out when i take off from a stop once in a while. i never had that on the rapid fire #5'.s might not help i have 6 month old gas in there. but the car runs good at operating speeds.

another guy i know runs the same plugs and has the same issue.

so i will go back to the #5's and see i can get rid of that nasty bogging issue i get here and there, after that i will look into some ngks.

just got my builot turbo engine running, I will be going out tomorrow to get colder plugs (1 step) right now with Begi 2025 and GM s/c reflash at 9psi it miss's super hard and puts the car into "safe "or "limp"mode for 15 seconds. I need to get that fixed, Wideband say that my a/f is good, I only have a few km's boosted, will plugs fix this?
