well, im getting ready to buy my turbo from westcoast-turbo.com and i have an option on my super 60. I can either get it as the regular size housings .42/.48 OR i have the option the upgrade them to .60/.63. or i can mix and match. Look at the site if you don't fully understand what i mean. It comes set at 7psi and i'm going to be putting this on a 2.4.
I know that the standard super has a fast spool up and onsets pretty low in the rpms. but if i get the larger option, how much lag can i expect? would it even be worth getting the upgrade if im not going to be putting it past 7psi ever? The standard option apparently supports the given amount of boost throughly throughout the powerband of my motor, so i just wanted an opinion as to why/why not go with a little larger housing option.
if you dont have a port and polished head, go with the .48 turbine and the .60 compressor on the super 60. it'll spool fast and wont fall on its face up on the top end. i think according to compressor maps, its been determined that a T3 super 60 turbo is pretty much the perfect size turbo for a nearly stock engine in our cars.

i have the .48 turbine. like no lag atall. it also holds just fine on the top end. HOWEVER if you are running a turbine this small i strongly recomend running an external wastegate !!!!!!! boostcreep and high egt's are a BITCH.

thanks fellas. hmm well the super 60 comes internally gated, do i have the option to convert? i've never heard anything like that happening so id be pretty good info just to know.
you can get them without it, but if you get the turbo with the internal gate, you can take it off and use a 5 bolt downpipe flange that blocks the hole for it. then obviously put the external gate on the manifold and dump it into the downpipe.
