Spring 06 new mods

Well I havent really posted on the jbo here in quite awhile, kinda got banned awhile back for stupid @!#$ and held a grudge for awhile but regardless i'm back and couldn't stay away from you guys

Anyways i've been doing a decent amount of work on the Cavy over this winter in an attempt to get the GM S/C into the 12's this season. Last year my best run was a 13.52@107mph so I know I have the speed but my 60ft's were like 2.5's. This winter i've upgraded the axles so thats not a worry, had the tranny rebuilt as my third gear sinchro was going out on me and had it beefed up a bit more. Installed a spec stage 3 clutch, fidanza lightened flywheel, 2.5" s/c pulley, ported and polished the s/c unit more, installed larger alky injection nozzle (m4) walbro 255, custom 65mm tb unit, more wideband tuning, and fitted the car with a test pipe so I will be running C12 race fuel this season. I don't think i'm going to run slicks but will be running drag radials instead, this is NOT a drag car its a street car that I love and drive alot during the summers so as much as I wanna hit 12's it's more important to me to still have it drivable to enjoy for the season. Ahhh and if I can't hit 12's on the S/C alone i've got a little bottle in the trunk that should definately get me there (Only a 35 or 55 shot though) SO that's what i've been up to just as an update, this will also be my last season Supercharged though as i've had my fun with it and am ready to step it up to the high boost platform next year, custom turbo 20+ psi and HPtuning on the way next winter

I really wanna get there without the nitrous, so that's my ultimate goal. I know I can do it with the spray but that's just not the same.

installing my bottle heater this weekend and then goin to the track this coming week with the new tires and the bottle heater and my gutted cat to see if i can hook, if i can hook with what i have now i should be good for a mid-low 13, im gonna give it all its got for ya's.

Yea good luck to the both of you. Jimmy, I always loved what you've done to that car. Looks awesome with those wheels on that color in your sig pic. I'm confident you'll be able to go 12's this season- as you were probably VERY close last season with those times, minus the garbage 60ft times. Now that you can really slap her around coming out of the hole, I'm sure you won't have any problem. Those tires/axles/tranny work were golden for you. Good luck.

Blew it up, build numbers coming soon

Thanks for all the compliments guys, SHIFTED you sound like you have a pretty nasty car man, congrats I'm not really sure when my cavy is going to make a track run. Our closest track is about 2 hours away so we usually only go a couple times a season. I'm going to hit up the G-tech later this week though and I'll let you guys know the results. The cavy isn't even on the road yet, New York blows Again thanks for the compliments guys it's greatly appreciated.

you really should get the HP tuners now , and not wait tell the end of the year

youll be alot closer if you can tune it

i know , with drag radials ill be out of the 14's or very close , and im running a auto , so im not far behind , and im havent changed the pulley size yet

but i think its around a 2.7 or 2.65 , i just know is slightly smaller than a 2.8

but ive got to wait another 6months before i make a charge for the best time

we are loosing our cool nights , and i wont have a set of DR's before then

glad so see ive got more s/c compitition to play with now , lol

hope to see you get in the 12's

and i hope to be not far behind

welcome back from the land of bans , lol

Keep it up fellas... Im lovin' the gains... Represent the LD9/GMSC
I just came across a spare head, so hopefully I can pick up a few MPH's sometime in the near future too.
5 pounds of boost from a 2.5 pulley is my new goal.

Cavy should be hitting the road tomorrow as the weather looks decent for the rest of the week, I'll get a few g-tech passes down and let all you guys know the results HPTuners will be coming this summer for sure, now that I've done some research and seen the possibilities and potential in tuning i'm sold on it. I'm not sure i'll hit 12's yet but I'm pretty sure i'm right at that edge

ok here's the results of 3 runs on the g-tech last night... basically they are about what I expected, and my launch with the car is absolutely terrible, i realllly need to get some stickier tires asap. However I am very satisfied with the times but especially the speeds. It tells me the car is definately capable of a 12 second pass if I could ever figure out how to drive it right

Run #1 - 13.23@108mph (running safe tuning mode / increased fuel through rpms)
Run #2 - 13.11@111mph (Took fuel out though rpm range / Getting minor knock counts in upper rpms)
Run #3 - 13.16@110mph (I think this is where i'm gonna leave it, getting zero knock and a fairly consistent a/f ratio through the rpm range.)

Overall i'm very pleased with this setup. I know there has been alot of haters out there on the gm s/c but hopefully this helps encourage some to not sell it short, with the right mods and some work with creating better flow and a decent tune the s/c can be a VERY reliable and quick setup. With that being said though after this season i'm ditching this entire gm s/c setup to go with a custom turbo. I love the reliability and simplicity of the s/c but now i'm in search of HUGE hp numbers the s/c just simply can't support. Fully built LD9 and 20+psi winter 2006
