Nology Powercores

Are they worth the $110. I keep having a problem with a misfire at high rpms. I have tried rapidfire 5s and gm charger plugs gapped as low as .030 and up to .050. My afr is between 11.5 and 12.5. I am running about 8 psi of boost. Would the Nology Powercores help out this issue?

I have not heard anything good about those. I would suggest trying to find the problem rather than try a band-aid fix. Are you sure that you are not getting spark blow? I mean it is a long shot being that you are only running 8 psi. But I would definatly say that your car should not be doing that no matter what. It sounds more like you have a problem rather than a need for more voltage. I dont know about the z24's but some cars the intake valves are still slightly open when the spark starts to ignite. It all depends on the cam and the timing. And the force of the moving air from a turbo can somtimes "blow out" the spark before it ignites the mixture. You can remedy this by checking to see which way the spark plug faces when in the cyl. To get the most power the plugs "open" side should face the intake. But this is the worst way to point a plug if experiencing spark blow. Try marking the open end of the plug so you can see which way it faces when installed. If it faces the intake port, get some plug indexing washers and you will see how they work by changing the way the plug faces in the cyl. They only cost like a couple dollars a set.

But I still dont believe that is your problem. It sounds like somthing is not working right on the car.

Would 88,000 miles on my coil packs have anything to do with this? I would like to replace them but I dont want to waste $100 if I dont have to. Also is there a way to test the coil packs?

I think haynes manual has a test procedure. You could always just upgrade to msd coils. I dont think I have ever heard of an ignition module going out but that is a possibility also.

If it only does it under load at high rpm's it's going to be hard to diagnose. Testing the coils at idle won't tell you anything unless they are misfiring at idle. What I would do first is make sure everything is working fine, order one coil and just try it on each plug till the skip goes away.

yeah nology is junk... I don't remebr the specifics about it but they advertise some kind of capacitive discharge for hoter spark ect... you do get a hotter spark its just mistimed

run some ac delco #41-602 plugs. them will lower your a/f ratio a little. i am pretty sure that is the plug #, just search / look at the FAQ post on the gm s/c and i posted the # up in there.

good luck
