I keep getting this intermittent "misfire in bank 3" code when I get codes checked. I'm running a Hahn Stage 2. I also occasionly get a "bank 3 too rich" code. Should I seriously worry about these? Like I said they are both occasional and not continual. I am not sure how to make them stay off!?!

Bank 3? Are you sure thats exactly it?
I've never heard of any car that had a bank 3, in fact, its not even in the OBD-II standards, there is only bank 1 and bank 2, the second bank is only used on Vx (v6, v8) applications.

Sorry, I mistyped. It was "system too rich in BANK 1" and "Cylinder 3 Misfire". I just had a brain fart. But still, this is driving me nuts.

Anyone else know something? I plan to just check cylinder 3's spark plug for anything unusual and check the gap. Besides that what can I do? They are new plugs so there isn't wear or corrosion to deal with.

If it is misfiring a lot you will get a rich code (unburnt fuel is moving through the cylinder and out the exhaust). Pull the plug, make sure its gapped, undamaged, and brownish colored. Especially with misfire conditions, the first thing you want to check is the plugs, regardless of how old they are.

My CEL also tells me that i am running rich in Bank 1. But i dont' have a code for a misfire.
With me running to rich also, does that mean i could have a misfire even tho, i don't have a CEL for "misfire" ?

My setup inclueds... BEGI fmu, 32# injectors (335cc), inline fuel pump. Everything that comes with the HAHN stage 2 kit... And i am using SRT-4 plugs, gapped at .35.

I just checked the plugs. They seemed really easy to turn. I am hoping that maybe cylinder 3's plug was just a bit loose. Any takers on that one?? I also verified the plug gaps and put fresh dielectric on them.
My setup is Hahn Stage 2 with Cartech FMU, 32# injectors and the SRT-4 plugs gapped to .35.
Metallic Cavy, why do you say you have a BEGI fmu and not a Cartech? Is yours different for the 2004's than the 2002's?
"If you aren't shifting, then you certainly aren't driving!"
Well its called the cartech begi... So i just called it the BEGI... lol.
I see that you have the same setup i have... Hows it running for you, besides your missfire(s) and whatnot. What psi you hitting?
2004 Turbo cavalier 11PSI and blown!
Well I feel stupid now about the BEGI thing!!! It's running well for the most part. The codes I get are mainly due to my unfiinished exhaust (no cat yet). The biggest problem is my downpipe. It hits the firewall pretty bad after it warms up. There is nothing I can do. I talked to Hahn and they told me to "swing" it, but I can't move it anymore. So that is the only real issue. Boost wise I'm hitting about 7 psi right now. I am not sure if I can get more with the stock exhuast on.

Shifted:
I belive that the FMU is set at a 8:1 ratio.
Silver:
How can you be having a problem with the DP? hahn specificley made it to fit where it doesn't hit anything. Unless its being caused to hit, by your stock exhaust.
Im hitting at partial throttle 3-4 psi and at WOT i see around 8psi of boost... I have a boost controller that i havn't hooked up yet... Maybe thinking of upping the boost, not sure yet tho...
2004 Turbo cavalier 11PSI and blown!
Yeah I was thinking that the stock part of the exhuast is making it hit due to the rubber mount at the rear muffler. I only see about 7 psi after adjusting the wastegate arm. There is no more adjustment left in the arm for some reason.
But, any other ideas on that misfire? I hope it goes away from the tightening, but if it doesn't do it what else should I check?

Any other input on this?

The plugs are brand new. They are the Champion SRT-4 plugs. I don't want to sound like I'm whining or ungreatful for help, I just want to be thorough that's all.
"If you aren't shifting, then you certainly aren't driving!"
Yeah I got a code for "system too rich in bank 1". Earlier someone mentioned that it was probably due to the erratic misfire.
"If you aren't shifting, then you certainly aren't driving!"
Nope no wideband. Like I said the plugs were quite loose, but I'm not sure that would casue a misfire only in one cylinder. But then again, why is it occasional and not constant? I don't know if being somewhat loose would even matter.
