ok granted I have a turbo and all, but I've seen in magazines about difusers, and did a search on here about it and could not find anything. I have always wonderd what it was ( dont' laugh to hard) thanks

The term "diffuser" generally describes the belly pan of a race car or at least portions of it, usually in the front and rear of some race cars. You'll see them on F1 cars, JGTC cars, that type of thing. They use them to increase the velocity of the air moving under the car which helps increase downforce without creating excessive drag. Basically they make the car go faster. But I've heard the term used (probably incorrectly) to describe panels that some guys use to redirect air flow to force air through an intercooler or something like that, too.
releaves drag on the rear bumper at speed. It keeps air from making an eddy up under the bumper around the spare tire well... you have to run pretty quick to see a difference.

The section between the rear axel and rear bumper.
The item used to redirect air is called an "air dam".

As I said in my original response, I also said the term is used INCORRECTLY. I know full well what an airdam is. I've been around race cars my entire life, if I don't know what an airdam is I shouldn't pick up a wrench. The man was asking for an explanation, I simply provided one in the simplest way possible, so anyone would understand. There are some diffusers that extend the entire length of the chassis, so that the belly pan is integrated into the front and rear diffusers.
sweet thanks all. now it clears things up.
