Anyone tried the new BEGI multi role ??
Wednesday, April 05, 2006 6:16 PM
Well i just got my turbo in and i think my FMU is done because im having major fuel problems with it. ME and QBE tried to get it working but its all screwed. IM running an A/f of like 10.5 in 5 lbs of boost and just crusing im running a/f of 14.7- 15.8 and my idle is at 10 psi which cant be right so im gonna get a new one when i came across this. The car runs fine but not in boost and i cant get it above 5 psi.

I know a bunch of people are trying to go with a regulator in their rail (aeromotive) to control the pressure at idle and also running an FMU with it but this has a built in option to control the base fuel pressure. Its called a multi role. Let me know if this would be worth buying and using.

Im gettin rid of my BEGI too, but I bought HPT too.... I had to rebuild by FMU for different issues...Im wondering if you have something wrong with your stock reg or pump...Also, I would try a different gauge...

Well im doing that hahn setup where it replaces the stock fpr and goes right into the fuel rail. I know theres nothing wrong with the gauge because i just installed a new sensor today coming off the shrader valve connected to a braided line. No clue.

What seems to be the problem under boost?

I pretty much have the same setup with the hahn kit. I have my idle set to about 35 psi, which i think may be alittle much. At idle, i see around a 15.9 a/f and while driving i see about 14.7-15.8 and under boost, i see between 11-13 depending on how much i am mashing the gas... And i see anywhere between 5-8 psi of boost... with a fuel pressure of 80-85psi while under boost... And my car seems to be running real strong... I only have a CEL saying im running to rich...

the MR is a nice fmu works exactly like it should, me I just went with a brass valve for 3 dollars to controll my idle pressure, i just mounted it in the fuel like coming out of the FMU to the tank. works perfectly and is very finely adjustable, and do to the rise to the FMU's Onset it acts somewhat like a real vacuum regulator in that as manifold inpressure increases towards atmospheric fuel pressure increases with it from my idle setting to my onset setting on the fmu then boost pressure from there.

for a total of about 6 bucks its a steal.

Well under boost the a/f meter is reading 10 and blikning which is way way too rich. My fuel pressure is actuallly set at 10 according to my fuel pressure gauge that i have mounted coming off my schrader valve and conecting to a fuel line with an adapter. under boost the fuel rises to about 65 with the pedal half ways and rises to about 75 about WOT. IM only seeing about 5 psi of boost at 6000 rpms and barely any in first gear.

we cant get him a nice idle presure and atmospheric pressure because hahn doesnt use the fmu like it was made for...

if we set it up for a good idle pressure once the car is started and at partial throttle his FP is 75 psi...

set it up for atmpsheric to et a decent full throttle and his base pressure is 10 psi...

unles the fmu is bad but this is getting annoying trying to get him a good fuel pressure without a stock fpr

IF someone can supply me with a way to hook an aftermarket fpr that hooks onto the fuel rail like the aeromotive and a way to connect a FMU like the BEGI to that i would be willing to purchase them im just not sure how to hook them up because i know how the stock fuel lines go into the FPR like the aeromotive and im just not sure how id hook up the FMU to that.
Heres a pic of Rodimus Primes...i just cant figure out how id hook the FMU up to where the stock line goes out of it. Any ideas.

Alright i ordered a new FMU from lightning auto online for 190 shipped so it should be here soon. Im going to also order a aeromotive AFPR and take my old fmu and that down to a engine rebuild shop and see what they an figure out how to hook them up together with the 03 fuel rail. If i can i would be able to switch to an 02 rail but not sure how QBE has his hooked up. I know Paco Laco also had his hooked up to an 02 rail also but im not sure what parts i need. HE just used a different type of aeromotive AFPR instead of the fuel rail mounted one.

With what you spent/or are going to spend, you could have put a dent in the HPT software.... I hope you get it figured out...

Yea i realized that but i dont know much about tuning software and parameters and all that plus im not planning on running over like 8 or 9 psi until i get a rebuild sometime not in the near future.

So i talked to the one kid on here who is running an aftermarket AFPR from accel and teh Cartech FMU and what he did was hooked up the factory fuel line to the FMU and then ran it to the FMU and cut it and flanged it. Im just wondering how to connect it to the FMU from there because it has an 1/8 NPT inlet into the FMU. Im waiting to hear back from him. Anyone have any ideas. The new FMU will be here this Tuesday.
