Eaton vs. RSM--- now that I've had both
Tuesday, April 04, 2006 2:37 PM
Alright, so to the best of my knowledge, I'm only the second person to have owned both s/c kits for the 2.4.... Borgs being the first.

I had an RSM kit with FMIC using the GM reflash and 2bar with 310's, and it was alright. I kinda expected more to be truthful. Boost didn't kick in very quick at all (like 4200 to redline ) and I still always had the problem with the tensioner. That, and since my car is a '00 Grand Am, the kit was not exactly engineered for my car. The vortech unit actually sat right on top of my ABS box, causing it to break a brake line at the flare going into the box...... scary.... Anyways, I'm glad I bought it used, cuz I would've been pissed if I spent 4 grand plus on it.

And now, I've got the eaton. I should've just gotten it in the first place. Boost comes right away, and I get 5 psi from the stock pulley. Plus it looks like it came from the factory. A nice clean kit. Not to mention I don't have to spend like $800 to get a different pulley to get more boost. That being said, I'm gonna be hitting up pulley boys and cooling mist very soon.

plus this kit is a bit more sleeperish (is that a word?) being that I don't have the loud ass BOV, and no huge FMIC showing out the front.

So a big thanks go out to Justin (snowman) and Dan (I don't know your username, sorry bro) for the help. (on both kits) you guys kick ass.

Anyway, on to the pics.

How many times do we all have to say it? RSM are thieves with garbage products and even worse service.

Glad you made the switch bro.

Good choice, glad to hear good things about the GM SC. I know I love mine, and by the way I will be running a GP soon on devilsown alky injection so check the classifieds soon.

I'll probably be getting a smaller pulley and alchy injection soon. What are the main differences between the devilsown and coolingmist setups?
