What should my options be for a T04E?????????
Friday, March 31, 2006 10:43 AM
well Ive been researching turbos and just learning as much as i can on different styles

i have a 2002 cavy with the 2200 ohv

im doing a turbo project for the cavalier and im getting a T3/T04E

what is the difference in a 50 trim and 57 trim? pretty much is it just 50 trim will spool faster than the 57 trim?

and how do i size the A/R? do i want .48 or .63, can anyone explain what these numbers mean

i am knew to picking out these options so please cope with my lack of knowledge on turbo specs.

last but not least, who is the best place to order this specific turbo i want. i don't want to get stuck with a crappy vendor, Ive been looking into turbostore.com and spoolinperformance.com but turbo store only has the 57 trim and spooling has the 50 trim but it costs about 120 dollars more what should i do

thank you

Larry Carlisle

To be real basic, the smaller the number is on the turbines a/r, the faster it will spool. It's up to you which one you want though.

good stuff www.turbosbygarrett.com has some good info on turbo sizing too. small exhaust turbine will increase backpressure and spool quick but die up top, larger a/r (0.63) will decrease backpressure causing (in most causes) slower spool, with more pay off at the top end.

HP Tuners | Garrett T3/T04B | 2.5" Charge Pipes | 2.5" Downpipe | 650 Injectors | HO Manifold | Addco front/rear | Motor Mounts | HKS SSQV | Spec stage 3 | AEM UEGO Wideband | Team Green LSD | FMIC | 2.3 cams | 2.3 oil pump swap | 280WHP | Now ECOTECED
