A little advice for my current tune
Saturday, March 25, 2006 3:36 PM
I have my Hahn Stage 2 Eco up to about barely 7 psi right now. The most fuel pressure I could see was around 80 psi. Does that sound about right or is it too rich?

A more general question I have, is there a proper break in period for a new turbo? I plan to attend the first AutoX of the year in a couple weeks. Too early?

Also, is hitting the rev-limiter (fuel cutoff) terrible on the engine when under boost? Anyone who has raced knows it can happen from time to time and I just wanted to know before the season starts.

And lastly, when I do go to finally attempt some 1/4 mile runs, will I hit the governor when I finally get the car running at full boost? From what I've seen most Hahn Stage 2's run in the mid 13's. But, I am not sure as to what their trap speeds were. I just want to have a good idea on this before all the racing this year begins.

Thanks everyone!

I trap at 110+MPH on almost every pass. Doesn't matter if it is a high 13 second run or a mid 12 second run. I seem to run 108-110MPH the most though. Of course I am running 13-15PSI. If you run 10PSI or so you'll run 13s probably and will trap at 90-100 I bet.

Wow I had a trap speed of 102 on 18inch wheels and hankook tires...

Anyways, its not good to hit the fuel cut off obviously because your under boost and you need fuel, you will more than likely detonate.

What about with respect to the break in period or the current fuel pressure I have?

Well the hahns instructions say your suppose to see between 80-90 for 8-9psi of boost. Im running 7psi right now, and i see around 85psi of fuel pressure while under boost with good a/f numbers

For fuel pressure well unless you get true air/fuel readings it is too hard to say. Every car is different. Break in from my understanding no. For your trap at the boost level you are at I would say 96mph, maybe a few more. Also rev limiter I belive is spark cut, not fuel, so not too bad. Speed limiter is fuel cut, so want to be careful.

Hmmm... you're hitting 80 psi of fuel pressure at 7psi of boost pressure at wot, right? What size injectors are those? And what is the static fuel pressure of the injectors?

As for breaking in a turbo... I am not personally aware of a break in on a new turbo, but I've never run on so I'm not the person to give that advice. Maybe just treat it like a new engine and change the oil after 500 miles just to clean it up and call it a day. This isn't likea clutch where you need to go easy to ensure a good mating surface....

80PSI is fine from the kit. I saw that too at times. Don't worry so much about the pressure as the AFR readings. Those are what matters.
