I saw that there's 2 types of manual boost controller.
- ball and spring
- Gated Boost Control Valve
Wich one is the best?
Is there a performance difference?
There's a input for wastegate boost hose and the output is for air to come out to atmosphere? Is that right?
Thanks!
I have no idea, but i beleive the input is from the turbo vac line and the output would be the same line going back to the wastegate. All there doing is tricking your wastegate into staying open longer, by augmenting the amoung of boost it see's. Least thats my understanding about it, dont know which is better, sorry. Someone else will chime in im sure.
Ok cause I think it actually decreased the amount of boost in the wastegate so it stay open longer.
Are you sure the other line goes back to the wastegate?
Thanks!
Yes, the other line goes back to the wastegate, otherwise it would have no signal at all...
I wouldn't use a manual boost controller for a long time, save up for a good one like the Profec or apexi one. Manual controllers are subject to boost spikes. If you want a good one, stay with name brand stuff, not hardware store knock offs.

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
wow,
okay to clarify this matter up,
a ball and spring MBC impedes the air from the compressor to the wastegate allowing (for an example) a 5 pound spring to stay closed longer
(because there is less air getting to the turbo through the MBC this means that the turbo has to push more boost to get the 5psi to the spring to compress)
therefore the wg is not bleeding off pre compressor air.
and a higher boost pressure is the result.
they are iffy, when setting them, because to test you have to drive, and you don't know how much you have bled off, so the boost could spike to 20 psi...
have fun..... good luck.
