Then you did something wrong. I have 3in from the subframe back and the only time it clunks at all is when I have to go over a speedbump or hit a pothole. I love my full 3in exhaust though. Opened the low end soooo much over having just the dump pipe off the cat.

As for a 3 inch exhaust being REQUIRED. No. It's not required at all. You will see benefits with it as your HP numbers climb but for most people who just daily drive the car and don't go out racing it competitively every weekend, like me, a 2.5 inch exhaust will be fine.

2.25 is def to small.

Go with 2.5' mandrel bent, and you should be a-okay ...

I love my 3" side exit........ it's loud, and it that turbo to spool so damn fast, I love it.

as of right now, no cat, or muffler, but I will be adding a 3" magnaflow hi-flow cat soon enough.

It's awesome.

Stop blaming others for the problems on your car. If its not right, fix it or make it yourself to begin with.

LarryMartin830, the bigger the exhaust the faster the turbo will spool and the more hp your motor will make. Smaller exhaust will add lag and not yeild as much power. Whether or not you need 3" exhaust really depends on how much power you plan to be making. A good rule of thumb for a turbo motor exhaust is 1" for every 100whp, in other words a 200whp needs at least 2" exhaust, 250whp needs 2.5", 300whp needs 3" ect.

I have a full 3" exhaust system on my car with a 2.3" rear drop and have no issues. Hope that helps.

Nice exhaust,

it won't hit the axle........

Here is mine......

SIDE EXIT.......

It's loud, and SKILZ is right....... larger piping allows the turbo to spool faster........... whether you NEED it or not is up to you, HP goals should be kept in mind !!!

I had a side pipe for almost 4 months. After that it got too annoying and I finished off the exhaust. Pulled so much harder after that. It's all about preference in this case though.

Hey Boostedcav...what type of resonator is that you have there. I see alot of peope with that one. I think im going 3" when i put my turbo on in about 2 weeks. How many mendrel bends am i going to need to order to do a full exhaust on an ecotec because i have a 3" down pipe and flex tube but i know on the ecotecs the only other bends are the ones going over the axle so do you think if i order a U-J bend (which is 2 90 degree bends and a 45 plus like a 10" leg on it) it would be enough?

Really ???? pulled harder ???

See I bought more piping, and a 3" crush bent 30 degree tip so it looks stock, I was going to add a cat, so it is like a STOCKER exhaust.
did you add a cat ???? or just finish it out the back ??

thanks

it's a 25" magnaflow Res......... adding a cat infront of it, and finishing it out the back....

don't get me wrong I LOVE hearing the turbo spool, it's just bait as hell......... I drive by a police officer, I have to drop in the clutch so it quiets up. haha
