Automotive FPR for the ecotec(Rodimus Prime)
Saturday, March 04, 2006 8:20 AM
Ok i was talking to QBE the other day about my turbo setup and he was telling me (which made perfect sense) that I should be running a FRP in my fuel setup to be able to set the idle on my turbo setup which i fully understand. Now i know that he is running an Automotive FPR and so is Rodimus Prime but Rodimus is running it on an 03 rail. Does anyone know exactly which one from Automotive he is running and the parts needed to adapt it to fit my 03 rail where the factory FPR was at?

Aeromotive FPR for the ecotec(Rodimus Prime)

Sorry guys i spelled it wrong...Aeromotive

its Aeromotive

is it possible to drill and tap the eco-rails to install an AN fitting?

If so, you could very well be using a universal AFPR from Aeromotive.

I think this is it......

yep that looks like a universal to me. It looks as though you'll have to fit the fuel rail with an AN fitting, and run a hose from rail to FPR.

that looks like a -10an size, are you sure you'll be needing something that big? I went with a -6an aeromotive FPR.

Aeromotive makes a AFPR that will fit right into your fuel rail without any modifications. It is made for the LT1 engine(just like many of the other fuel modifications we boosted Ecotecs use). Search on Summit Racing for Aeromotive LT1 adjustable fuel pressure regulators and you will see parts AEI-13107 and AEI-13106. I believe 13106 is the right one for our rails.

IM also going to be running my cartech FMU. In order going into the rail........FMU connected to the FPR then into the fuel rail....Good setup for about 6 psi daily and 10 psi tops?

Alright...heres the lt1 FPR from aeromotive..pic below. Now i can bolt this right to the fuel rail and get a fitting so it will connect to my cartech FMU also. The aeromotive regulator will allow me to regulate the fuel for the cars idle and the FMU will let me adjust the fuel under boost? Am i correct? The only other question i have it since i have the regulator on the fuel rail, will it allow the fuel adjuesments under boost from the FMU rise to compensate for the boost or will it just keep the fuel pressure the same throughtout?

I believe all aeromotive FPR's are 1:1 boost reference.. for every 1psi of boost, the pressure gets raised 1psi. And yes, the FMU does all the handy work when under boost conditions, the FPR keeps you sitting at a steady pressure in vacuum. (unless you hook it up to a vacuum source) then at WOT the pressure should jump 5-10psi, until boost sets in, then the FMU takes over... hope thats not too confusing

Now i know the hahn setup has the FMU connected to a vacuum sourse with a one way check valve off the barb with the adjustment knob for lean and rich adjustment. So if i were to get this FPR then i would connect the vacuum source to the FPR and no connection to the FMU at all?

you would probably be better off with both having a vacuum source hooked up. However, in order for the FMU to work, it must have a reference (vacuum/boost source)

the Cartech FMU has a check valve on a barbed fitting so as to aid the unit in returning the fuel pressure back to stock. The only real drawback with Cartech's, IMO.

Like Rodimus said, its P/N 13107 that will fit our fuel rails.

Blown.

if you have a 02 rail you just need a special adapter and the universal A1000 -6 fpr

SO how easy is the FPR to tune for a good idle? Looks like just the turn of a knob to adjust fuel pressure up or down.

use an allen key to turn it and screw the nut down to lock it there. Then just lower it a few psi to see the impact on the idle as well as monitor your Wideband o2

Brandon,
do you know what the special adaptor part number is?
or will Summit Racing know what I am talking about when I ask for it?
Thanx

nobody sells it.

Mine was custom made by a friend.

If he wants to sell you one that is his choice. I will inform him of this post.

Ok im going to purchase this FPR for my setup but im not too good with the whole furl like setup thing right yet so does anyone know off hand what i would need to attatch the line from the FPR to the line of my Cartech BEGI that came from Hahn. I can take some pictures and some mreasurements if anyone can help me i would greatly appreciate it. Also since the FPR has a 1:1 boost ratio does that mean for every 1psi of boost it raises the fuel pressure 1 psi and is that enough becasue it doesnt seem to be enough for boost according to the Cartech BEGI driections and what ive heard from the boosted ecotecs running the Cartech. And i know i can adjust the amount of fuel with the BEGI by the top knob and the leanness and richness with thee side knob but with teh FPR and it being a 1:1 would that screw it up and not let the Cartech dump more fuel since it is a 1:1 boost ratio?
