supercharging an OHV?

I was looking on car-part.com and saw the superchargers for the chevy cobalt priced at $750. What would it take to put one of those superchargers in a 98 sunfire ohv setup?

No, I don't believe it would fit between the back of the engine and the firewall, and even if you could make it work, you'd spend a LOT more money than just turboing it.

First they are 2 completly different engines and setups second I would be wondering what kind of supercharger you'd get for $750.00.

Well I was looking at the factory supercharger from the 2005 cobalt. I was thinking that one of these superchargers would be a lot simpler and less expensive than a turbo setup.

Is there a way to remount the alternator in the a/c compressor spot and install a supercharger in the space where the alternator was in? That would get access to the belt and give enough room for the supercharger and access to the lower front end to run the intake.

I'd like more power, but I dont have $2,000 for a turbo setup. I think that adding a turbo would double the value of my car!

ideas?

Mounting a roots-type supercharger on an OHV means a very VERY custom intake mani; one that would allow you to mount the charger almost on top of the valve cover, which means a custom hood...bla bla...lots of $$. It would be sweet though!!

you can't do it without a ton of money, a good fabricator and lots of time

the cobalt supercharge is on the 2.0 ecotec DOHC...the intake manifold is on the front of the motor and the exhaust on the rear.

your OHV is 2.2l (i know the size doesn't really matter, buts its a pushrod motor) the intake mani is on the back of the motor and the exhaust is in the front..so moving the alternator like you asked it would but the charger right on top of the exhaust manifold and wouldn't work...

sorry i don't think theres a way to do it at all

Bummer, that would have been a nice way to get it done.
