injector help

So i was trying to calculate what size injectors i should run at the HP i plan to make. I figure i will be in the 200hp range with the setup i want. Now if i calculate 320cc injecters (this is what some people recommended i use) like so 30.5 x 4 x .8 / .55 = 177 (Flow rate x No. of injectors x .8 / BSFC = HP) Did i do something wrong, is .55 a good estimate of the brake specific fuel consumption? If i flip this around and put 200hp in i get around 360cc injectors. So if 360cc is better i would be better of running some ford brown tops (36lbs or alittle over 370cc)

Also, the setup would be a super 60, intercooled, 5-6psi, and on a otherwise stock motor. is 200hp a realistic goal for that setup?

Nope, sounds about right, that formula assumes 45psi fuel pressure constant, if you add in a higher pressure with an FMU, the 320's will flow enough to support 200hp.

Do note however, the Ford 320's and the GM 320's are not the same size, the 320's that GM uses are rated at a higher pressure, so the Ford 320's flow more than the GM ones.

Ok, now ive only been really researching the idea of turboing my car for about 2 weeks (i think i have come along way) so bare with me. How would i calculate for higher pressure? And is there a standard rising rate to set an FMU at for my setup? or is that something that is only determined once you have everything on the car? i have a ton of other questions but i dont want to get ahead of myself.

You determine the rising rate depending on what power you need, so lets say you calculate to use your 320cc injectors to make 210hp you will need to run them at 60psi. Your base pressure is 40psi and you are running 10psi of boost (people forget that one)...

So the rising rate you would need is...

((60-40) + 10) / 10 = 3:1

(You can also see why people who just go buy 12:1's are running dangerously high fuel pressure)

The calculation for adjusting the flow rate of an injector based on fuel pressure is in the New Boost FAQ.

I was reading this post and was wondering what goes on with the fuel pressure if I do the s/c reflash? Will the pressure be controlled by the reflashed ECU or i'll also need an FMU? Thanks!

Fuel pressure is completely mechanical, controlled ONLY by the FPR, there is no ECU interaction.

Yeah ok, that's what I tought but i'm confused...

I know that I don't need an FMU to run the reflash but is it better to have one?

at what psi does ford rate the red tops (30lbs) for some reason i want to say 45psi?

ok i think i found out that they are rated at 40psi. Now the thing i cant figure out, if they make the ford red tops in low impedence, and if they do, does anyone have a part number for them?

Nope, red tops are only high impedance.
