hey everyone whats up im just going to get my car out toward the end of the month and wanted to turn up the boost on it! it is an automatic and im just worried about how much boost the transmission can hold i know the motor can handle a lil bit let me know what u guys think i had it on 4 but that was just because i had just got itback and was going to mess with it this year! how high can u go without blowing something up?
boost isnt power. <----
BTW there is no way anyine can help you if we dont know what car you have

It's not all about boost per say but it's about overall power in general. The 4T40E transmissions can handle plenty of power stock.
I'll be running 10 PSI and all I have is an interceptor and transmission cooler to help.

Hey adam,
where did you buy a transmission cooler for your transmission. Was it easy to mount?
"Smoked"
ya my bad ecotec 2.2 cavalier!
here are 2 pics i dunno why the last picture came up so small but thats the setup anyway let me know what u guys think about the boost or how much power it could handle! u said your going to run 10psi on an automatic? is it ecotec?
i know that i just threw some pictures in there but im asking its just all stock tranny and all im wondering how much boost i could run wihtout causing any problems with blowing anything up!
i am at 10 psi but am reflashed. supposedly that pulls timing at shifts to make it easier on the trans. So i just upped the interceptor to 100%. Going for 12 or 13 psi on a stock bottom end before i put the new motor in.

I bought mine off ebay for like $30. Look up Hayden Transmission coolers.
This is where we mounted it:

jeeshhh Adam, looks like some1 got mad at the dang cooler and took it off with a golf club
haha, but those things are hard to keep the fins nice and strait, the fins are EXTREMELY soft.
The stock Auto tranny can handle 1 psi.

is that the only way to install it?
to drill threw the fins?
there arent any brackets for installation. also what is the other end drilled to?

you dont DRILL through anything, you move the fins out of the way so you can fit those zip-strap things through both of the radiator and cooler, the same black circle things are on the back...just pull tight, and wholla....not to thread jack, but JCavi, how is the megasquirt install going, if u have msn, add me.....codyw_9@hotmail.com

do ya guys think 10lbs of boost is 2 much or would that be good?

When you have the 4 speed, you want to worry more about the motor handling it than the transmission...it can handle PLENTY.

NJHK's tranny cooler was originally mounted to the AC condensor before we decided to pull the a/c on the car, pulling the black tab off is what left the dent. But the fins were straigtened after that was taken so it doesnt look AS bad.
