something that i cant find in forums or anywere is how a turbo settings work. say for example im going to have a built motor with everything you can think off and im just confused. i know that the higher i set the boost the more gas i waste right ? what is the lowest i can bring it down to ? im going to run megasquirt ,, not that im cheap but dont want to waste gas expecially 93 octane ... so my question is. can i run maybe 4 psi with 720cc injectors ? how can a turbo car save gas ? what are you guys running on turbo get for gas millage running about 8 - 12 psi ?
the more power you make the more gas you are going to use.
one thing, is if you have a late spooling turbo, you can stay outta boost and as long as you are outta boost you should have better gas mileage. megasquirt will help your gas mileage a lot cuz you can tune the injectors way down when you are outta boost and get a stoich/slightly lean mix.
I actually remeber someone on here saying if you tune it correctly (like with megasquirt) they got better gas milage than the stock ecotec. Correct me if im wrong. Tune it right and you wont have any problems.
^^^ yeah if you never go into boost. and 720 cc injectors for 4 psi. wow, a bit too much.

i think he meant just when he was driving on the street
obviously he was planning on cranking it up for the good times
yea pretty much im just gonna crank it up when its neccesary .. gonna be driing it around pretty much everywere,,
on 7.8psi and 42lb hr injectors i get around 22 without ms just a fmu and fpr so its not bad you should be able to see anywhere from 20-29mpg depending on tune and driving habits

turbocharging for better gas mileage makes no sense at all. like everyone said stay out of boost if you want to conserve gas. unless you plan on running over 450hp you really dont need 720cc injectors. and megasquirt doesnt run your injectors sequential so it doesnt help much with saving gas. however it does allow you to fine tune any size injectors.
