I finally have some funds saved up so I'm going to rebuild the turbo motor. I want to go big so what all do you think I should get. For now I'm thinking an HO manifold, 62mm throttle body, and then definately rebuild the bottom end. Any ideas on what rods, psitons, etc. And what should I do with the head?
Thanks for the help
I just got some wiseco pistons and eagle rods for like 725 +shipping, I got them within 5 days, I would buy from them again, Karo (carcustoms) is also really good.
HP Tuners | Garrett T3/T04B | 2.5" Charge Pipes | 2.5" Downpipe | 650 Injectors | HO Manifold | Addco front/rear | Motor Mounts | HKS SSQV | Spec stage 3 | AEM UEGO Wideband | Team Green LSD | FMIC | 2.3 cams | 2.3 oil pump swap | 280WHP | Now ECOTECED

Do that.
Also, turbo wise, if you're going with lower compression pistons and you're relying more on your turbo to make power, I personally would go with a ball bearing turbo.

that is where I got mine, I wasn't clear before, but I have heard that Karo sells them too, and has very prompt shipping

Thanks for the input. Should I go to 8:1 compression or stick with a closer 9:1? I already have a cometic head gasket thats .74 i think which drops compression to 8.9:1, should I keep it and just get forged pistons or should I get a different gasket and dished pistons? I'd like to run around 12 to 15 PSI. Did you guys do anything to the head? Or just the bottom end.

9:1 is fine.

how much fo those head gaskets change compression? if you got 9:1 pistons; they have two thicknesses .030 (NA) and 0.074 (boost) I think factory is 0.046 or something.
he said that the thicker gasket would put him at 8.9:1 is that from factory 9.5:1? so what would the 0.030" thickness gasket do to 9:1. That is what I am using for my boost setup. I was hoping to get 9.2-9.3:1, is that reasonable?

Well I've got a z24 and I believe that my stock compression is at 9.7:1. and with the .074 cometic head gasket it lowers it to 8.9:1. If you were to use a gasket that is thinner than a stock one you would actually increase your compression ratio. So that wouldn't be a good idea if you were trying to get to a 9.2:1. I would stick with the stock thickness. That would be much closer.
I'm thinking about some forged pistons with the stock compression ratio and using the cometic head gasket to lower it to 9:1, and getting forged rods with new bearings. I think would be the best route to go. Any other oppinions?
Also, should I stick with a stock crank? or should I upgrade it to a forged one, or perhaps a different stroke?
well wiesco pistons are 9:1 compression. so I was hoping to use the 0.030" to raise my compression to 9.2-9.3:1, I was just hoping this thinner gasket would do that

ok that might pull it off, i'm not really sure though, I didn't realize you were using the pistons also.
