Ok i think i found a good place to run my intercooler piping on my ecotec under the car but it must be run across the engine to the opposite side where it comes out of the intercooler. Well not completely across but almost. Is it ok to have more piping or will is screw something up like take longer to spool. I will be going off the turbo with 2" then under the engine and right before it goes into the intercooler im going to use 2.5 inch, through the intercooler and then all 2.5 the rest of the way to the TB. Heres a picture of what it will look like but this picture is NOT an ecotec, it is just a rough sketch using a picuture of a 2.4L. Let me know what you guys think.
looks pretty good but if you cud get a pic of an ecotec underside it would be easier to judge the room youve got
I found a place on the ecotec for the pipe to fit perfect all i need is a picture of the underneath of the ecotec engine and i can show you what i mean. It fits pretty perfect. Im going to mock the pipes up tomorrow and take some pictures.
well the piping you added to that pic has unnecessary 90 degree bends
the sharp 90 degree bends will hurt air flow
there is less bends the way the piping is routed before you added the photo shop pipes
have it flow through the intercooler the other way and you can probably cut down on some of the bends.
then you just hafta run the charge pipes to the tb from the other side
looks VERy similar to te Hahn piping but with a few changes.

And the pipe that goes under the engine is ovaled out to increase clearance.

sounds like its gonna be a nice setup chris. I wouldn't mind taking your old exhaust off your hands...is it 2.25in? if so I need the piece that goes over the axle to the muffler. Give me a call when you are putting it all together or if you need some extra hands.

Yea i might need some extra hands ryan when i go to put on the turbo and drop the pan to tap, i also have a type j kit coming so ill give you a call. As for the exhaust, im going to see how many psi i can hit with the exhaust right now which is 2.25 but it is crush bent and looks like @!#$ so well see what we can work out. I might have some 2.25 mandrel bends left over i can give you. As for the piping, i was going to mock it up today but the weather is acting @!#$ty but its supposed to get better.

i understood the pic is a 2.4 ( i own 3 cars with a 2.4) , and he has a eco
im saying the piping with all those extra 90 bends is gonna hurt the air flow , more so because of how tight they are
you want smooth transistions , as much as possible
which is why i made reference to the original pipe routing , it has less harsh bends in it
Yea but on the ecotec there isnt enough room inbetween the lower mount and the engine block for the 2" pipe to fit without going below the oil pan a little bit. I dont want to take the risk of ripping the piping off the car going over a speed bump. Im going to take some picture in a little bit and ill post them.
just got the good , high temp 4ply couplers and you will be ok there isnt alot of heat in that area
keep the 90 dends to a minimum , the length isnt really a problem , its the bends that are
and hahn runs their under the oil pan , near the belhousing
that would cut down some bends
Anyone got a picture of that setup for that hahn piping for reference? I cant find any pictures of the hahn piping set up.
I have a couple of pictures of my intercooler piping on my cardomain site. Mine worked out pretty well and all I had to remove was the stock air box pieces, which will need removed anyways...

Is your cold side of the turbo towards the driver side or passenger side? My piping leaves the turbo, goes towards the battery, down the stock airbox hole behind the battery, hard right into the intercooler, intercooler, exits and wraps behind the intercooler, straight across to almost the battery(still behind the intercooler, 90 straight up to level with throttlebody, then 90 across to the throttlebody. I know this sounds confusing, but if you look at the pictures while reading it, it will make sense.
Pro: no dealing with crap under the car or tight spaces
Cons: amount of pipe, decent amount of sharp bends

I know exactly what you mean but my turbo points downward so i have to run the piping under the car like the hahn setup. I just nees some pictures of the hahn setup under the car to get an idea of what they did. My cold side comes out of the intercooler on the right( if you are looking at the car) hooks up and goes through the restrictive bung hole then 90 degree and into the TB. I haven done the hot side yet cause the weather is @!#$ty. When i do though im going to take lots of pics.

my current setup runs under the engine and i dont have a single scratch on the charge pipe. My car is pretty low too.
I changed the way mine is routed from before but it still goes under the engine.
my hot side enters the intercooler on the passenger side and exits the intercooler on the drivers side then goes under the battery.
You have been asking questions about this for a while now. I answered every time. Do you not believe me that it will work going under there?

Here is a picture of my old pipe routing. My new way is the same besides that it turns towards the passenger side instead after going under the engine.

Somewhere in here looks more convienent for 2" piping. I can run a straight into the motor then a little 45 upward and then the 90 to the turbo. That way it will be higher than the motor.
