2200 Turbo..New engine bay set up complete.. PICS

I'm not bragging .... or telling anyone my numbers.......... just really really really excited that I managed to fix everything !!!!! and I MEAN EVERYTHING.......

So, as many of you know ... I had RSM racing so a hack job on my car just under a year ago ........

They didn't install the IAT sensor (left it hanging), ran the charge piping over the master cylinder and that made it so I could run the strut bar.

you get the point.... so I won't go into serious detail......
BUT......... Today I fixed everything ...

Fiero 2.8L Screw-in IAT sensor
4 wire HEATED primary o2 Sensor
redid the charge piping
redid the oil return fitting and the oil return line
moved the oil catch can and re-routed it into the intake on the turbo
and rebuilt the turbo ( it blew the hotside oil seal because the return was too small)

ON WITH THE PICS..................

BEFORE--------------------------------

AFTER-----------------------------------

let me know what you guys think .........................................

Thanks for the input in advance.... whether it be good ..... or bad.......

ya I kinda copied you ......... now that I think about it .............

well do YOU have a heated primary o2 sensor.....

I ADVISE ANY BOOSTED J-BODY TO GET THIS MOD...............

my car used to sound like it had cams at cold start up ........

now it runs good, and is in closed loop in like 30 seconds....

WOOT

ya the manifold is going to get ceramic coated when I get the charge pipes and turbo powder coated...........

as for clocking the turbo.....

we looked around everywhere..... just couldn't seem to free up space..... the log manifold doesn't really allow for much messing around with the turbo ....... the waste gate is in the way...............and the fan ..... mind you I could go out and get an external gate and a front mount fan .... but the return is in the way and the starter......... just too much @!#$ .......

Besides I've grown to like how it looks..... just needs a bath and a nice dress up ..... blacking out EVERYTHING ...... I mean everything ....... even the engine bay once my motor is done .......(spare)

thanks for the input !!

So whats this talk about a heated 02 primary, cause I know when I start my car when its cold it chugs, and sounds like a huge cam too.

What are the side effects if any, CEL?

Just wait till I get my pipes redone. I swer everytime i see you car Its like looking under my hood. Dirt and all

i have a couple questions

where is your wastegate? i'm assuming your using an external gate and its below the manifold, do you have a picture of what it looks like there?

also what did it take to move your oil tube to where it is? seems like it might get really hot there would that affect anything?

First off, his wastegate is internal. It's under the turbo... actuator rod and all.

2nd off - nobody listens when I post it seems. I gave all the info necessary about the startup problem and the switch to a heated 02 sensor last April/May when I encountered the problem and remedied it.

I've been saying this for a year now - J-bodies need heated 02's if they turbocharge, because moving the sensor OUT of the collector of the manifold doesn't allow it to heat up in time off of a cold start...

As for what to use - any narrowband heated 02 sensor will do.

I know that not everybody reads EVERY post on the .org, (god forbid none of us have that kind of time except maybe Adam, ) but I have posted this info a few times and given this advice out quite a bit - to deaf ears. Lee finally listened to me after he told me about his cold start problems last July.

Lee - the engine bay looks a bit better, but it still needs a lot of work in my opinion, and you know that. Clean up the harnesses, the vaccum lines, the oil lines, the fuel lines, and basically run things so they aren't running all over everything. Degrease and clean the engine bay, powdercoat the charge pipes (as you are), and just overall make it more visually appealing... I only suggest all of this because you have started to actually care what your enginebay looks like. (Which is good, most ppl don't give a crap and it shows with poor setups and badly run lines)

Good luck, and if anybody needs info as to what heated 02 to use and how to hook it up, just ask... I still have all the wiring diagrams at home.

Ken - oh my god what is that welding mess at your downpipe flange there!? Wow!

I feel bad for you guys with 2.2's having to run the pipes like that... you have so few options.

LOL I know. It is just Temporary for now. I wasn't concern on the look as much as the function of it. I am going to be going V band so that will all be taken care of by spring.

Wastegate is under the turbo .... Internal (like my buddy Chris said above)....

The oil tube is fine ..... doesn't affect anything ............

it was a Bitch to get there .... it's actually rigged so that under where the bottom two T3 bolts are, it attaches to there..........

KEN 2.2.........

the only side affect of the heated o2, is... and I tested this today (it was -2 degrees)

A. the car ran GREAT at start up ..... cold cold cold start up compared to summer time

B. it runs great ... hahah .......

how I ran it ..... and this is very simple.....

I found a 12v source that turns on when the car does (and stays on), spliced into it, went to the 12v on the o2, grounded it , and ran the other 2 wires (hi, and low) to there respective locations (where the stock sensor went), took about 25 minutes to do ..... and the car runs awesome. Cold start problem ... GONE......

and Chris..... we've talked about my engine bay........... it's coming ........ I'm in school studying Architecture.... final semester...... ONCE I'm done ......

OHHHHHHHH Boy..... This 2.2 is going to get crazy/ and clean.................... JUST TO IMPRESS CHRIS.............

oh Chris.... I'm sending my manifold out to fireball (joe's guy)..for ceramic coating ... Black ....

Woot

oh and I drove her today ...... nice -2 degrees outside.... let her warm up and drove her fairly hard today, the car is 100% more responsive, starts great, idles great, and sounds wicked bad, not to mention it hauls a lot more ass then it did before

I think since the computer wasn't getting a REAL intake air temp. it was running wierd.
Thanks for all the feedback ......
